Default PLEASE HELP!!!!

I had a set of H techs installed about 8 months ago that I had purchased off Ebay, 4 months ago i added 19 inch wheels. I started noticing more and more that the driver side rear tire would rub on bumps and when I took right turns faster than 10 mph. I just chalked it up to the springs settling and the fact that i have a rather large system in the back.

Last Friday on my way home i started hearing a rubbing noise coming from the front driver side tire, when i got home i found that the tire had worn a hole in the plastic fender well and a piece was now sticking out nad rubbing on the tire. I then proceeded to check the gap on the tires on both sides to make sure the car was even and found that the driver side was about 1 inch lower than the passenger side.

I figured that since i bought my springs off ebay that they were knock offs so i purchased another set from an authorized dealer and had them installed last night, upon removing the old ones i found out that they were not knock offs since the serial number was printed correctly on the spring and the TEIN logo was printed on and not a sticker. We installed the springs anyway and my wheel gap was even all the way around again (the back would normally be higher but due to the system weight it sits even hence the reason why i got springs with a front rake).

Today at around 2 when i was going to lunch i checked the gap again for yucks and the driver side is back down again by at least a half inch so i can stick my hand all the way over the tire on the passenger side but cant even get my fingers over the tire on the driver side. I've heard of springs settling but never this fast.

When I first lowered the car i got it aligned one week after install so they springs had time to settle so I dont believe it could be that. I have been on the phone today with Tein, SPort Compact Only, and many members from my area and no one can come up with a sure reason of why this is happening and why it would only be happening on the driver side.

Before anyone asks my stereo system has its weight evenly distributed in the vehicle so there is not more weight on one side of the vehicle compared to the other, and i only weigh 183 so I dont think I should be able to make that big of a permanent differnce and if so that should be a manufacturing problem on Scion.

I'm having the stock springs put back on the car this Sunday to see what the does and at least get rid of the current rubbing issue. I know there are others out there that said they had issues with the the driver side sagging with H techs on their car......I NEED TO KNOW what you found out if anything about what was wrong with your car.

PLEASE, if anyone knows what I might be missing or what is causing this I need to get this taken care of. You can call me on my cell if you like @ 480-221-1772 because I am really desperate to get this resolved,

hmmm, depending on mileage and driving hapits its possible, however not likely that your strut could be blown.. IMO TEIN has always had a below par product for our car, and with the drop their kit delivers for our car, its significantly decreases our tires contact patch on the road as it lowers the A-arm below its safe operational range. On top of that because their kit has than a 1.5 inch drop on stock struts it seriously affects the lifetime of stock struts. They just weren't designed to take that kind of abuse... Could be the spring not seated, but I doubt thats the issue on the new set and the old at the same time. Especially with only one wheel and two different sets..I honestly don't have any other idea as to what could be going on.. I really hope you get it resolved I hate to hear about any damage to people's cars, hope all goes well and keep us updated...

I second double checking the strut..Id think if it were a spring issue it would be happening on more than one wheel, especially since you have put 2 sets on and both have done the same thing.

i just came back from a shop that does suspension and bags and so forth and measured the vehicle on a flat surface. Found out that there really is no difference on one side to the other except maybe an 1/8 of an inch, what we did find is that my passenger rear wheel has a bit of a negative camber and the driver side does not so that would be why it doesnt rub on the passenger side.

I had SCION do the alignment to begin with so im not sure how that got screwed up but im taking it to a performance shop with a state of the art alignment machine and get the wheels as close the factory spec while still having a negative camber on the rear and front if necessary.

Ill post up what i find after its done but it should resolved the issue

Also please remember you have a GAS tank in the rear with most of the weight on the drivers side. A full tank will lower the rear more try it.
