Problems with my new Brembo Rotors!
Someone PLLLEEEASSSSEEE help me out here. I just put the Brembo Slotted rotors on my tC, front and rear. And as soon as I start to move, i hear this grinding noise, not really screeching but it sounds BAD, I followed the intall intructions to a T, so I dont know what I did wrong or whats up. Please help me out, I'm hungry and need to drive to get some food!
ok get someone to stand outside of your car and listen to both sides of the car as you coast down a small hill/driveway WIHTOUT hitting your brakes... see if you can pin it down to one wheel or both fronts (whatever the case may be) its possibel you have a seized caliper but its doubtful. I'm assuming you changed your pads, this could also be the problem, the extra rough pads on the new rotors every now and then make a light grinding noise for the first few miles but if its really loud, we're looking at something else here....
And no its the old pads, at least till friday when the new ones come on, could that be the problem? It now sounds like when you are hauling ___ down a hill on a bike and you just hold the brakes down, thats what it sounds like
lol as much as I admire your metaphor I can't wrap my mind around the exact sound you're going for
But if you still have the stock pads i doubt that's the issue, I am under the assumption that you have some pad life left though... How many miles are on your car???

even driving like a total ___, i don't see 26k eating through factory pads just yet. Here's what I'd do:
1. Figure exactly which wheel/s its coming from
2. After figuring number one out pull off the pads and check them.
3. If there is pad left I would make sure that the vanes in the rotor and the slots are going in the correct correction. If they aren't I could see some of the extra friction causing some noise..
4. If rotors are on correctly and pads have life I'm going to have to say that maybe some water got in your brake lines, caused some corosion, and seized a caliper. If this is the case a caliper for the rear costs $395 god only knows what the front would cost. I don't think this is the case but without being there to check over everything those are my only real ideas.
I'm sorry to hear about this and if you can't figure it out I'd take it to a local shop because a dealer won't cover this under warranty and a good mechanic will only take an hour or so to figure this out and I sure as hell wouldn't want to pay the dealer 90 bucks an hour to figure it out....

hmm thats actually a good thing... i'd drive em around for a bit and see if the noise goes away, it might be some of the sealant left on the rotor... did you wipe off the rotor with brake parts cleaner THOROUGHLY before installing???
yeah that pretty gold stuff is probably a sealant they put on there to keep corosion from occuring during shipment... wipe it off with some brake parts cleaner and the metaphor you used earlier is starting to make sense now, haha.... Try wiping them down and let me know...
its alright it happens to us all... you don't even wanan know what i did to my passenger side rear when installing my rotors... youd feel like einstein if I told you
P.S. some of that sealant probably got on your pads too so scrub em with a tooth brush to get it off of them too...

I´m doing rotors and pads this weekend. Had I not read this thread, I wouldn´t have known to clean the rotors first - I gues ur not as dumb as you think, or i'm just as bad!! lol
