Default Quaife ATB Differential

I emailed Quaife america and they said they will have a differential ready in about 4 months. This was one thing I was worried about before getting my tc. I just had surgery so i can't go order mine just yet but now it's a sure thing i will be getting one! Sorry if this was posted already but i didn't see it and wanted to let you guys know.

I don't see in any other posts a time frame for this being released......

Anyone heard anything about potential pricing? I've seen various Quaife applications go from $500 to $1500, so it'd be nice to know what we'll have to pay for the tC's unit.

I'd love to see a diff with lower gearing -- say 2100@70mph

differentials do not change the gearing of the car, they simply determine which wheel is getting more power.

ok let me rephrased what i said. i thought you were on the same page as the rest of us.
a LIMITED SLIP differential won't change the gear ratios.

http://www.houseofthud.com/different...limited%20slip

they have a lot of information describing open, locking, and limited slip differentials.

Wouldn't that be nice? Performance would decrease, but gas milage would improve. Always a trade-off somewhere...

Give it time and ZPI will have there 6-speed and I'm sure that will be on thier minds while R&D is being done. Cruisin the highway at 3600-4000 rpm's is alittle for me.

the limited slip differential would replace the stock open differential. and since the design of the differential is what determines the final drive ratio, an LSD could be designed with a longer final drive.

i'm sorry guys, you're totally correct.
Whoops! lol

but thinking about that, wouldnt it change the ratio on all of your gears? and you would lose quite a bit of performance?

i have an auto tranny, and i personally would like to see shorter gears.

You really think they'll make one? If so, I'd bet it'll be cost prohibitive for most people. I'd settle for a higher (lower numerically) 5th gear, if such were available and didn't cost too much to install.

by my settling for a higher 5th gear, youre settling for 4 other higer gears as well...

No, I'm not. Changing the 5th gear out without changing the final drive gear would leave the other gear ratios the same.

then you would have to change one of your spider gears, and replacing the open differential with an LSD wouldnt do anything for you as far as gear ratios are concerned.

If you check out ZPI's website you will see where they are already working ont a 6-speed for the tC.
