Exclamation Question on coilovers...

Okay look, ended up getting some function/form type 2 coilovers. Believe it or not, I traded some artwork for them

Haha so basically, I was wondering where to get them installed at?
Trust, i've heard it before... "Just do it yourself, its not that hard."

or "I'll do it for some beer" hahaha..

But, I was just seeing where I can get it done at a shop or what?
Cuz i know i would mess ____ up if i tried it.

Let me know. Thanks!

uhm it would help if people knew where you are located. People could give you a shop that is 1000 miles away from you

Do it yourself. It's... 7 bolts on the fronts(3 upper struts that are like 12, or 14mm, two big boys down bellow which are like 20mm or so, and then one 10mm that holds ur brake lines and a 12 mm i think) and I think 4 on the back(3 strut, one by the hub). If you're really worried about it, find someone who's done suspension work before and have them help you. I'll help for a case of beer, a round trip plane ticket, and transportation to and from a major airport. haha.

Called up a shop here in the East Bay and they said about 3 hours for install at $120 an hour plus $100 for an alignment. That sounds a little high but they've gotten really good reviews so I'm debating. I'd say any shop that gives you a lower price than that you should go with, pending on their online reviews.

360 bucks in labor? i'd tell them to go f*&@ themselves at that price. Back when I had others do the suspension work for me, i payed 120 bucks for the whole job. Alignments not included

edit: And that was with a spring a strut swap, which requires compressing of springs and taking the strut off. If ur doin a coil swap it should be even less. I could prolly do a coil swap in my front yard in maybe an hour and a half. 2 hours tops. My boy had his springs swapped on his S60R in a shop. Guy did it in, i kid you not, half an hr, i was shocked myself. Had 4 spring compressors goin at the same time.

I figured it was high but its the best price I've come across so far. I called up the dealership for a good laugh and asked them how much they wanted. On top of them requiring TRD coilovers they wanted $700 for labor. I laughed really hard and hung up on the guy.

My search continues until I find a lower price elsewhere. As soon as I find a price around $250 I'm going for it, otherwise I may have to settle for the shop I have now.

Thanks for all the info. I may have my cousin help out. We put on my springs i have now without spring compressors! ahaha we had like 10 pair of vice grips and hose clamps out.

I mean im sure I can bolt them on, its just the perfect corner weight and balancing i want. Isnt that a big issue?

and to the homie in moval, represent! murda^

its simple. Takes me about 10 minutes per corner to remove my coilovers, no different than installing them.

You guys have to think about where he is and how much labor rates vary.

For example, he is in "everything horribly over valued and over priced" cali So he is looking at labor rates well over $100/hr.

I live in the mpls area, and I would be looking (if I actually let someone else work on my cars) probably upwards of $100/hr. Back in my home town in OK, my dads shop charged around $45/hr and dealers are about $50 - $55ish I think. So it can vary alot. I would expect FL to be in the $60 - $80 range or somewhere close to that based upon the cost of living there. So what could be a $120 install in one place could be $300 somewhere else for the same amount of labor.
