Question regarding brakes
I recently installed my own EBC green stuff front and rear brake pads and left the stock rotors. They have about 35k miles on them. I have been waiting for the new brakes to properly brake in but they still squeal quite a bit and make some nasty noises when they get very hot. I used the spray-on brake dampener from Toyota on the brake pad shims and installed everything properly (i think!).
Yesterday I got home from a long drive (lots of city driving and braking) and started to wash my car 5-10 minutes after I parked. When my rotors / brakes got wet they STEAMED up and smelled pretty bad. Is this normal for a long drive? I've never noticed it before. I can't figure out why my brake pads won't wear in and be silent
Any help please!

Never....and I say Never wash your car after you have driven it for that long. Always wash your car before any driving because the cold water can cause you to warp your brake rotors and will misshape your pads as well.
At 35k miles I changed the pads and left the stock rotors. Replaced the stock pads with EBC green stuff and I am at about 39k miles right now.
And I will never wash my car after driving again! Sorry!

^^^ you're probably fine for the little bit you did, no warping. But yeah keeping that up over time, would warp the rotors..
glad we caught ya before it cost you some $$$ to fix..
the squealing? hmm.. did you break in the pads correctly? did you use light sand paper to lightly rough up the rotor surface before you put on the EBC pads? if not, the material is not transferring to the rotor, since the stock material is on the rotor surface. remove that by using a light grade sandpaper, then break in, i believe your squeal should be gone after that.
