Replace brake pad questions
I just had my car in for its 20,000 mile service and my front brake pads are down to 2 mil.
They want 250$ to do a whole brake job on the front.
If I do the work myself will it void my warranty?
if not
How difficult is it to change the pads on the front?
I apreciate any help you all can give
thanks

Is the $250 to replace pads and rotors or just pads?
You're probably better off doing it yourself anyways... it's not that difficult at all and you will get to pick out parts you want and could even go to some slotted rotors if you want.
This might help too.

$250 has to be rotors too. The pads are like $40-50 at the dealer's parts counter. and labor, what? $90 to put both sides in? something is overpriced at your dealership! ouch!
If you do it yourself, you could get something else, like www.porterfield-brakes.com brake pads.. the R4S is a street compound. Works great.. had it before on my other car! The person who has that car now is STILL using those pads after 2 years! and I put on about 20k miles on those pads before selling it! The owner now has put about another 20k on it too! I went over there and measured the pads still a lot of pad left! Gotta love carbon/kevlar pads!

Do it your self, its really easy. I changed the pads on my cousin's durango, and it wasen't hard at all. Just remember how the clip that holds the caliper goes. I wasted alot of time tring to figure out how it whent.
changing pads is extremely easy. after removing the wheel, you only need to remove 1 bolt and pivot the caliper on the other bolt. you will need a vice grip to compress the calipers back in but shouldn't take more than 30 minutes per side.
