best shocks for s-techs without having to dish out as much money as a coilover? i've had the s-techs on my car for about 20000? so i'm thinking maybe it's time for better shocks?

are the trd's height adjustable? i'm confused about how aftermarket struts and shocks work are they just better put together than oem?.. i know what coilovers do.. but not shocks and strust..

exactly why i don't get how shocks and struts work.. what's the difference between aftermarket and OEM?

 

they handle differnet kinds of spring rates better than stock ones. thats why you hear of stock shocks blowing when installed with lowering springs. also, there's tokico, which is a bit cheaper.

 

so i should just wait to get shocks until my stock ones blow? how is performance with aftermarket ones?

I have a brand new set of Trds for sale in the classifieds.

 

with a coilover the shock/strut and spring is combined into an assembly. the shock/strut tube is actually threaded and the "perch" the spring sits on can be screwed up or down to adjust the height. your not gunna have height adjustment with s-techs.

as far as shocks/struts go, you need something that is designed to handle the shorter spring and higher spring rate. i'm not sure what are available, but i imagine there has got to be better options than the over priced trd product. maybe tokico's? kyb's?

 

i would go with tokicos if you wanted a good option for aftermarket struts....konis are so expensive that you may as well get basic coilovers.

tokicos are like $400 shipped and arent adjustable but will last longer than your stock struts and shocks....

i have s techs and im gonna get tokico shocks for them once i get some $$ together

most after market shocks are good just not stock i believe soo...

 

yea konis tokicos or trds you cant go wrong. even though id get trds if i had trd springs or h techs cause theyre meant for small drops i think. konis and tokicos are meant for more severe drops.

 

yeah i have the stechs.. and mine are sagging.. so my ride looks dumped right now..
