smoothest most comfortable riding coilovers
I know that this has been talked about before but I searched a million times and never found a sufficiant answer. Which coilovers are the most comfortable and smooth riding. Like I said I have been doing my research and feel its come down to H&R's or Progress. Im just asking for some honest opinons from anyone who has some input on this issue. Please dont blast me I have read the coilover comparison charts and all that just want some opinions.
Thanks In Advance,

^^^^^ Hey Guys, give the guy a break..... he searched threads about coilovers and odds are he saw the comments about springs and coilovers. But he did ask which ones are most comfortable.
Based on my findings the lowest spring rates come with HKS, also due to their high price few have them. Garage1217 and Intense Power are the people you would want to talk to about HKS. From what you will hear from them, its all positive.... " HKS makes the most comfortable coilovers and best performing out there" - Mike from Intense Power.
Hope that helps a little. Plus don't mind the people on here..... they all mean well but sometimes it doesn't come out that way lol.

I highly doubt anyone knows because I don't think anyone has driven tCs on H&R, Progress, and HKS. Of course Intense Motorsports says HKS is the best because they sell them. Of course I will say H&R because I own them, and I've mentioned before my Mom says my tC feels better than her Acura TL. And of course people will say Progress is the best because Toyota has used them for the Celebrity race tCs, and TRD has re-badged them to sell at Scion dealerships.
All I can say is continue doing your research; compare the features and price, and remember that spring rate doesn't always translate to ride comfort. More importantly, read the "real world" reviews and not the retail reviews... here's mine on H&R:

^^^^ I agree with 2fast,
Here is one from Garage1217 on the HKS

Oh to clear up, why I put the quote from Intense, I was talking to them about the different coilovers that they had, and what they really thought about them, or atleast the ones that they tested. The ones that were their Favorite were the HKS. Thats the only reason I put the quote from Mike in here.
Figured it would give you an idea from someone who has tested a few of these coilovers and can tell you what they thought about it.
Now the only question is...... Which coils did Intense test, and ride in? lol
* For every claim and argument..... is a equal counter-claim and counter-argument
hehe*

Well ive had h&r sport spring, hotchkis and now progress coilovers and honestly they ride much like hotchkis... they are not stiff at all. Sure you can feel the road a bit more but they are really comfortable to me and im dropped more than 2" f and like 2.5 in the rear....

you'll never get a straight answer. Everyone likes their setup the best, its natural, but still, impossible to get an unbiased opinion.
first off, the smoothest most comfortable coilovers are going to be the STOCKERS. beyond that, its a tradeoff between performance and comfort. You won't find a well-performing coilover that is also very smooth and comfortable.
Using shorter, stiffer springs means that bumps and road imperfections are going to take more of a toll on the chassis.
coilovers means you get more response and feedback from the road, ie. the car is more adhered to the road and less compliant to changes in the road surface. eg. you get coilovers because you want to feel more of the actual road.
if you're looking for smooth ride and comfort, its simple, don't get coilovers.
i mean, when i had just my eibach pro kit springs, the ride was pretty compliant, but u want to replace the shocks too...so.....

^^^sorry to disagree! true every one knows that coilovers are more stiff geeee give it a rest already. N eways ive own 2 type o springs and driving on trd and stech but like i said progress to me ride really smooth after all i got coilovers for the exact same reason as you, look at the comparison chart they have the lowest spring rate 250f 350r if i recall correctly. now not every one is biased to their setup cuz ive seen plenty of people with tein basic post that their ride is on the stiff side... now to me ive gotten a better steering response than any of the spring but if your looking for the best just get a sway bar and im sure u wont be disappointed....
go to hopupracing.com
there is a tanabe cils and they say you could choose from different springrates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw hks coils are expensive......
if u have lowering springs and stock shocks and you are setisfied with the drop then go with tokico shocks and hotchkis rear and front sway bar....... that 2 together is chepaer than the chepaest coilovers and its 2 times better upgrade!

[img]this is my drop im sure if your looking for a higher drop it would be ride even smoother. The only reason why i dint like hotchkis was cuz the rear didn't settle to where i wanted the car. Like i said these coilovers ride like the hotchkis with the benefit of a bit less body roll.

its not only about spring rates and dampening. Its about the fact that your car weighs 3000 pounds, and when it goes over bumps, etc, there is energy distributed through the chassis. If you are that low, and you have softish springs, you will bottom out quite often, hence why shorter springs have to be stiffer.
unless you have the magic springs that drop you low as hell but are also very compliant with no suspension travel! :D
