Any ideas on what would be a reasonable price for the installation of TRD springs onto the stock struts on my 07 tC? I was quoted $300 to install and $70 for an alignment as well.

It will vary a LOT from shop to shop. $300 isn't awful (I've heard of higher) but ideally you'd want to be in the $200-$250 range. That would be a GOOD price for install.

That said, any chance of finding a few people in the regional forum to help you out with the install? Would save you some money and you could make some new friends. One of them would probably even have a garage you could use. A lot of people have done this before and would probably be happy to help.

I got quoted $260 for install and alignment. I just ended up doing it myself. it's pretty easy. Autozone rents out manual spring compressor.

Here in CA, I got quoted anywhere from $300 to $740 to install them, and that's with my own springs (Yes, I did laugh and hang up the phone when I got quoted for that $740). There was nothing below $300, and I called MULTIPLE shops.

It seemed like a lot of them couldn't comprehend a 2.5" drop all around. I got asked if I "really wanted to go that low" by almost every shop. Most said that if I didn't get an alignment I wouldn't be able to even get out of the shop, so I'd have to pay an extra $70 to get aligned. All that was with about three hours worth of labor as well.

AcidDrop did it for me in like two hours in an apartment parking lot.
Two months later I'm still going with no alignment and there's no unusual pull or tire wear.

Have someone help you with the install, you'll thank yourself later.

get the springs installed first. dont do an alignment until you drive it around some. After the springs have settled then get an alignment.

You really dont need an alignment with trds. nor camber adjustment (which btw can be adjusted on our cars with the twist of a wrench)

i just put on H&R's which are 1.7 1.5 drop and i dont need camber or alignment. just spend a day and do it urself. also if you want to save hours! take ur springs and shocks to a mechanic and they will put the springs on them for you for not that much. (which btw is the hard part) my install was a full 2 days cus our spring compressor broke. we spent 45 mins taking everything off, then 6 hours getting the old springs off and new springs on! then 45 mins to put everything back together. lol

you can rent a spring compressor and do it yourself. should take about 3-6 hours depending on your experience working on cars.

I do remember pepboys charging $20 to put on new springs if the spring and shocks were taken off the car and brought to them.

But you still need an alignment. How did you do it yourself? I understand you can adjust it yourself but how do you know the angles are correct? Do you use the string method?

I said that already.

3-6 hours and a beer break in between.

i'd say $150-200 would be the best price you'll find..

alignment i see around $60 or so, but i would get them done weeks after install to allow time for the springs to settle.

Saw this deal on CS yesterday: http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/pts/1624100810.html

Does that seem like a good deal? Not really sure. I have stock springs and struts with almost 30K on them.

I have posted in the Chicago area thread as well. Not sure if anyone out there might be able to lend a hand.

Computers I know, cars not so much.

You do not need an alignment for trd springs! 1.2-1.5 drop is nothing! Please do not waste your time or money doing/buying an alignment!

agree installing springs is sooooo easy, the first time i had help installing mine then i did a friends and realized theres no need to go pay a shop to do it they're insanely expensive 300 and up...do it yourself and save the money for something.. mine have been installed for awhile and never saw the need to get it aligned either.
