Default steering stiffness question...

okay well i right now have only raceland coil overs as far as suspension mods...

i drove a friends tc and he has trd sways f+r, and trd suspension,

i noticed that compared to his car my steering feels so sloppy and over reactive

his car feels much stiffer at the wheel which i like

i was wondering if that was form the installation of the front sway bar and if not then wtf can i do to get my steering like his lol

TRD has a front sway bar? I thought they only had the rear and it worked with the stock front...

Anyways, does your friend have different wheels or tires?

If you want a stiff steering wheel, get the polyurethane motor mounts. The first time I started my car with them in made it feel like an earthquake in my steering wheel. Now I don't notice it.

If you didn't get aligned after you installed your coilovers that's part of your main problem right there. Most likely your wheels are pointing in 4 different directions making if that much harder for your wheels to respond to the inputs you are giving via the steering wheel. Definitely get it aligned as your first priority.

Beyond that, once your wheels are straight you'll have to gauge how loose your steering feels again. Most likely the addition of sway bars will help tighten up the feeling and car's overall willingness to respond to driver inputs.

dude, i told you, it is the front sway bar. it makes the steering feeling awesome upfront. it is something that a rear sway bar or front strut tower bar can't do.

Mounts do nothing to improve steering feel or stiffness.

The alignment will do a LOT towards that and chances are the camber change due to changing ride height induced enough toe (which should be set whenever camber is changed) to make the steering feel quirky, or in a way "overassisted". Making a one degree change in front camber without changing toe on autox days makes a big difference in the feel for example.

But then again.. I am an idiot, right op ?
