stock strut blown?
I did a search with no luck, so here is my q:
Who here has actually had their stock struts blown out after sporting lowering springs on them? If you have, please list how many miles were driven on the springs and which springs they were, thank you.
I am just curious because everyone always says its a matter of time before they go, but I've never seen any posts about them actually blowing out.
and yes i know it varies when they go, Thats why I am asking everyone to list miles driven on them.

with all struts, it is a matter of time before they go period. even 100% stock will will lose a strut over time.
it has to do with the lowering spring, driving style, amount of weight carried, and driving environment. all of those factors drastically change the lifespan of the struts, so there is no way you can even remotely accurately estimate how long they'll last. you'll have people says "i've been on s-techs for 70k miles on stock struts, no problem, while others might just put on some trd lowering springs, and just have a bad day and bottom out on a bump, and blow their struts.
if your going through the labor of changing your lowering springs, just do the struts while your doing it, alittle more $ now, but less work later.

Let me type this real quick: Just because your shocks haven't gave out 100%, it doesn't mean you should still ride on them. I mean, you could and all. But it's not like it would change the actual ride of when they are infact "blown". As opposed to just really worn out (it would still ride as if your shocks were technically blown). If that makes sense....
Yeah. ^. But also like I've noticed on my IS that my stock struts rode as if they were intact blown. But they actually weren't. Due having it on an other 2 inches of added pressure. Point is, don't nstock struts for too long.
