Default Strut bar worth buying?

Thinking of buying a new tC. While adding some accessories, I saw the Front strut tie bar. For 250 clams, is it worth buying from scion, or is there a better option for around the same price that can be found elsewhere?

Thanks.

Depends...

If you are getting a great interest rate and are saving(or investing) money outside of your new car loan that is making a hihger rate than your qualified interest rate (and you expect it to for a profitable portion of the loan) then you should finance every option you want.

But if you are trying to save every dollar you can, and don't have qualified investment products that are making better returns than you will pay in interest...

buy it aftermarket for like $100 (DC bar - search for it)

That's not a condescending reply, it's actually very good advice.

I financed all the options I could because my interest rate was lower than my annual return (now that the markets are on their way back to pre 9/11 style) on investments.

Of course I made the wrong choice if my investments go south.. but that's what investing is.

as far as "is it performance worth it"

Uhmm... in theory it should be, but you may or may not notice a difference, depends on how hard you drive (and i mean hard_ auto-xers tend to see more of a difference.

The last point: looks very cool in your engine bay.

And one actual last point... If you really wanted to spend $250 in financed accessories. i would get the TRD springs instead - since you want some suspension enhancement, the springs will do an insanely better job than the strut bar will.

When you are doing suspension for this car, i would do the following order (based on reasonable products that are currently available)

-Springs
-Sway bar (set, front and reat - or just trd rear)
-Shocks (coilovers if they ever become available for a reasonable price)
-Strut brace

But before I spent money on that, I would personally get better tires (Parada spec-2's would be great, but AVS ES100's if you want a cheap(er) tire that can perform in the rain to an extent)

The strut bar helps with stability at high speeds... if your dont get up that high then I guess not. I bought mine with a strut bar and 70 and above is like riding on glass. Id say its worth it but buy it aftermarket and put in in yourself or have someone do it.. it will be cheaper in the long run.
