Default tapping from the bay after tower bar install

I just installed my dc strut tower bar and now I am hearing this tapping coming from the bay. I'm pretty sure that it is something tapping off of the bar. Has anyone else encountered this? I tried to search for a topic but nothing was showing.

any suggestions?

still

I have a DC sport tower bar and it makes a tapping noise at idle.

I'll investigate.

leave some tools in your engine bay? Have you shaken the bar with your hand?

nope bar does not shake. no tools under there... i believe it is the harness that rests right next to the front tire well. im just not sure what i can place between then to cut back on the vibrations

not sure what harness you are talking about but I bought some sticky weather molding stuff at home depot that is sticky on one side and the other is soft cushion. I bought it to prevent my CAI from rubbing against the inside of the hole that the pipe goes through. Ill try to get some more info...

I have the same issue and it's driving me nuts. Some people have posted about it and "fixed it" but it doesn't really fix it for me. Maybe I haven't found what he was talking about.

When you turn on the car, the intake vibrates, which causes that little connector to bump against your strut bar, which makes that ticking noise. Just undo the screw that is holding the connector to the intake, and zip tie it somwhere else, and your problem will be solved.
Give it a try and let me know if that helps at all.

i know the fix!

there is a piece of plastic that sits right beneath the bar that vibrates when the bar is installed. What i did was tore up an old rubber mousepad and placed it right under it and secured it with double sided tape.

problem fixed!

Hm. I must not have used a thick enough pad. I got some thicker weather stripping now so I'll go try that.

As I figured - my tapping source is different, but it started when I put the strut tower bar on (the same one even).

When the engine gets hot, and the radiator fan comes on, you can hear a vibrating under the hood - you can hear it really well if you put your ear down by the front drivers side wheel. The noise is very noticable when you're at idle from the outside after driving around awhile. (My dealer said "What's that noise??") You can hear it inside the car when you're at a stop light or otherwise at idle. It gets quieter or stops when you turn the air conditioner off. It stops when you go, but I figured that was because the vibrating just gets faster and engine gets louder.

What do you think THAT is all about? Dink10 i'm anxious to hear what you come up with.
