Default tC on H-Techs--pictures

I just recently finished painting my rims (not very professional, but you can't tell unless you're up close and you certainly can't tell from the next lane!!) and lowering my tC on Tein H-Techs so I thought I'd post a few pics. I also had my rear emblem color matched so I'll include a pic of that too. Just wanted to give some ideas and whatnot. Any questions about anything I've done, just ask!

I love how you painted the wheels. I had the same idea in mind but in bronze. Do you remember how you did it? A write-up would be nice. My favorite is how you left a lip on them.

The drop is very clean, the kind of drop I was going for. Are you planning on upgrading the shocks as well? How is the handling?

Default Thanks guys!

wow, I guess I should get on here a little more often! First of all, thanks for all the compliments. It's nice to know someone appreciates all your time and work other than yourself, ya know?! So, let me try to answer all the questions. The paint I used is made by Dupli-Color and it's called High Performance Wheel Coating. You can get it at Auto Zone and it comes in silver, white, gunmetal, and black, I think. Oh, and clear coat. It works really well and is quite durable after it is completlely cured (about 4-5 days). Until then, you just have to be careful. I did a little "studying" by looking at a bunch of pictures of different guys' painted rims to decide what I wanted. Once I had it figured out, I started taping. Here's a summary of how that went... I jacked the car up and put it on 4 jackstands to remove all 4 wheels. Then I cleaned the wheels really well - spray on, hose off wheel cleaner and then some black magic wadding cloth to remove any dirt or grease. Then I taped off each wheel individually. The taping alone took me about 7 and a half hours!! If you look, you can see how detailed my tape had to be. You can also see how off all my lines are though so don't look too close! Once all 4 wheels were taped off, I covered the tires with some wide duct tape and started spraying! Count on using 2 cans. I used about 1 3/4. After that, you can use some clear coat if you want, but i was going for the "matte" look so I didn't. I sprayed one heavy coat and then 2 medium/light coats. When I was all done and the paint had dried overnight, I went over some of the really rough lines with some thinner on a q-tip and it seemed to work pretty well.
As far as the drop, it was what I was looking for. I wanted to improve the look, but not lose TOO much ride quality. The h-techs lower the front 1.9 and the rear 1.4 if I remember correctly, so that's what they look like! I plan on either upgrading the shocks soon or finding some nice coilovers. I just wanted to get it lowered right now so it doesn't look like a monster truck driving around!
As far as the calipers are concerned, I've never been into the painted caliper look myself. It just looks kinda fake IMO. I'll be putting a big brake kit on and those calipers should come painted.
Thanks for all the comments! I thought there would be some haters out there for sure!!

Then again... if you can afford big brakes then why not buy new 18" wheels . You did a good job bro. Be ready to fix the paint though in the future.

I need help here.. I ll be getting a set of 17" for my snow tires. It will be brand new but not the color I really want. So it will be easy for me to paint it I can just start painting without prep right? What is the minimum temparature can I spray it at?

Here is the link of my question

I don't have a can of the paint with me, but if i remember correctly, I think it should be above 40-45 degrees. As far as my opinion on your choice of color... personally, I've never really liked the bronze look. Thing is though, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. If you like it, do it. It's your 20k (give or take) so do with it what you like. If you don't like it, you'll have to spend a little more time, but you can always re-paint them. Post pics whenever you decide though!

If I had a choice I would have bought different color. But it was darn cheap.. $250 shipped so I had to do it. I think i will get it powder coated. It is getting cold here in colorado. I dont think I will be able to paint it my self. Plus powder coated is so much more durable.
