Default Tein Basics Coilover help!

whats up guys. so i searched a bit on this forum but i couldnt come up with a definitive answer, so heres a little background info. i installed my coilovers about a month ago and they had been really good. i had bought them from a member on here with only about 2K miles on them. i recently took a trip to little tujunga canyon near lake view terrace and tore up the canyon. i was driving moderately on the way up and moderately on the way down. ever since that trip the rear coils have been making funny noises. when i pushed the rear of the car up and down, the coils make a creaking sound. my first thought is that they were blown, but upon further inspection, i did not see any leaks or anything like that. when im in the car, i can hear the gas compressing on the shocks and i used to never hear that before. my friend and i took the wheels off today and inspected the shock and everything seemed ok. we retightened all the bolts and it still made that sound. i even raised the rear a few threads and still making the sound. what can be causing my issues? blown shocks? do they need to be greased up a bit? bushings? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Same here, ever since i installed my springs then my sway bar it's been making this weird creaking noise. Now I'm on Tein-SSP, initially they didn't make these strange noises but as they broke into the car, they started making the same creaking noise again. I'm starting to think these noises, creaking, rattling, etc are unavoidable once you start changing the suspension.

If anyone has any input on this, would appreciate it.

a homie who's on form and function coils has a creaking noise up front. he told me that most coils are noisy regardless. its annoying the crap out of me though. i want my car to be nice and quiet wheni first installed them. i have a rear sway bar too. idk if that has anything to do with it.

I have racelands and i have the same problem with the back right coilover. It makes a squeaking noise everytime the car moves and it really get on my nerves. I have a hotchkis rear sway and initially i thought that the sway was what was making the noise but after checking it out i found out its the coils and has nothing to do with the sway. I had it raised up to about 9 threads when it was squeaking but i maxxed out the coils as far down as they will go and its not making the squeak anymore. (knock on wood)

Of course once everything was originally installed, it is brand new and it is nice and tight and it wouldn't create much noise. However since they are coilovers, considering how stiff they are, the nuts and bolts will loosen overtime as you drive.

As for sway bars, oem sway bars are hallow(correct me if i am wrong) and a good number of aftermarket sway bars are solid and thicker thus stiffer because of that it will cause a noticeable amount of vibrations and noise. In addition, if you have aftermarket end links those also contributes harshness and noise.

That is likely due to the sway bar. If he didn't use the adjustable sway bar links, you'll get noise up front.

@teecizzle- did yours squeak in the rear as well? i thought we installed everything correctly. i had absolutely no noise when first installed and now the noise is happening. i guess ill have to take them apart and check it out again. maybe something came loose.

I have NO noises...No Squeaks

I did have Squeaks before when they were incorrectly installed though.

Yea I would double check the assembly and all bolts too.

Are you sure its coming from the coilover assembly and not the sway bar bodymount/bushing back there? (the bushings that hold the sway bar to the frame) I was sure my teins were messed up (squeaking noise over every bump) till i popped those bushings off and noticed they were completely dry. greased em back up and not a noise since.

I have ssp....had a squeaky that was coming up from underneath like that. I have the DG sway....ended up being the endlinks themselves.

I am in Texas right now so I can't show but I will explain.

Reach in and grab the center of your endlink.
(with it still attached completely)

Twist it left to right....if it squeaks wipe it off with a rag and then get some white lithium grease and dab it on at the pivot point.

Work it in....repeat for the remaining three pivot points.

Also: the sound of releasing pressure is normal. Coilovers are noisy and rough on the road...function>form.

You know this sounds like a problem I had with my suspension set up a few months ago. I thought my rear shocks were blown cause it made this air suction type sound in the car. I posted up a video online for people to see and they told me to check my sway bar bushings to see if they needed to be greased up. Turns out it was my sway bar bushings all along. Try regreasing them. It won't hurt to do so.

I have the DG swaybar, and my endlinks started squeaking like crazy. Squeaking would come from the rear over every bump. Just like rougenite. Check swaybar bushings or endlinks.
