Default Tein-S springs and issues with camber/shocks?

Yo.

I'm considering a drop soon, and those Tein-S look very tempting.

Have any of you guys had any shock/camber issues with these springs?

2.4"/2.0" is a pretty extreme drop.

Very nice.

So no camber problems/shock issues? How long have you had the springs on?

my front two tires have camber. the inside walls of the two tires are pretty worn.

shocks...im still waiting for some company to come out with them so i can replace my stock ones. hopefully tokico and kyb makes something.

Bah.

Thats means I'd have to get a camber kit along with the springs.

I'll probably do the TRD springs then.

KYB does have shocks for the Tc you just have to do a search on the web to find a place that sells them less than $500. a set (F/R)

I think the TRD springs would do it for me. Wouldn't have to deal with camber/shock issues and whatnot.

I'd rather spend that $500+ bucks on something else.

IMO the TRD springs dont quite cover that wheel gap.
the TEIN S-TECHS are oh so very sexy on the tC.

[Da_Mac] what site sells those KYB's? Do you recall what the site is for those shocks?

did you get an alignment? i hear that its not that bad when you get an alignment after your springs settle.

With tein s-techs it is highly recommended that you replace your struts however it is not necessary at first, you can drive on stock struts for a while depending on your roads. As for camber issues, your car has factory camber adjustments in the rear that will be able to compensate with an alignment. For the fronts you need to get eccentric bolts or smaller bolts from your local toyota dealer. They run $25 or less. So you are talking $150 for springs, $25 for bolts, and maybe $70 for a professionhal alignment. So don't waste your money on TRD's. By the way I have tein s-tech's with no camber issues at all and am a factory trained toyota tech.

OK....so.. about the scraping noise.. what might it be? Is it the tire rubbing the wheel well? i dont know but it sounds pretty painful going over a bump at a high speed. anyway, how much does it cost to install the bolts at the dealer?

it might be, but dont get why they should rub with 18's. most people who have 18's with s-techs normally dont. hmmmmm. well, if it sounds like its coming from the wheel well from the inside them its mostly likely one of your tires.

no, it only happens when i hit a bump. it sound like something is scraping. maybe the springs on the brake rotors? i dunno, its only the drivers side. its not the wheel because i just rotated my wheels a week ago.

Well you have a few possibilities. First the spring may installed improperly. It may be upside down or not seated right. I have seen noises from this before. Second the struts may not be able to rebound fast enough and the inner fender liner is hitting the wheel. Third you may be bottoming out, the tow hooks and subframe may be hitting the ground. As for installing the camber bolts at a dealer, if we are doing an alignment on the car at my dealer we do not charge to install the bolts. However we do charge more to do alignments on lowered cars because they usually take much longer and involve adjusting toe, camber, and sometimes caster. Regular alignments only adjust toe.

i had that scraping problem after i got into an accident and dented my front fender. i only heard scraping noises from that side. when i got it fixed they told me that something else had broken other than the fender. might want to check i out with your dealer or something..

well i dont have s-techs but i DO have Hotchkis! I bit higher than s-techs. I wasnt too sure on picking either of those cause of the drop, but after seeing a tC with these springs i had too! s-techs was too much of a drop for me. Besides Hotchkis are the only springs to even out the tC making it a level drop!

I do have camber but its not biggie? A camber kit will fix it but it's not necessary. You inner tires will wear out a little faster than usuall.

The TRD spring/shock combo is good that ive heard, but again it wont fill the wheel gap like s-techs or Hotchkis!

I got some pics in my sig.

Just get an alignment. No need for camber kit.
