Hello, there are just so many posts I can't find what I'm looking for. I ordered Tein lowering springs, and they just came in the mail. Do I need struts or shocks for my 2006 scion tc? I am still kind of new, and unsure. Thank you!

Yeah I replied to other post in that other thread. I guess you figured it out now. To do the install, you just need springs. What you might have heard is that S-Techs are hard on your stock struts, and with yours being a 2006, I'm sure they are original struts, and those springs will be a bit rough on them and you will probably need to replace the struts in the near future after a few miles of being on those springs. That's probably what you read and was confused with. Ride your struts as long as they'll go and say fvck it.

 

I heard people saying that there are struts, springs and shocks all on the scion. My friend told me I would need to get shocks and struts specifically made for lowering springs, but other people are saying you just need springs, And other people are telling me I only need springs and struts. I thought struts and springs were the same? They sell sets of 4 shocks and sets of 4 struts, but I also heard that there are 2 struts in the front and 2 shocks in the back? SO CONFUSING. If you could clarify some of this...I'm still new to the car game. Thanks!

Struts and Shocks are the same thing, as far as you are concerned.

They do NOT make a set of 4 struts or shocks. They make two fronts and 2 rears because they are different of course.

Your car has four struts that have four springs over them.

If you want to go lower by just getting shorter springs, then that is all you need, which is what you've already done. Just swap the springs.

My car is starting to get a little bouncy as it is, so I might as well replace the struts while im doing this. There is one strut on each side (tire-wise, so 4 total), correct? One for the front left and right, and back left and right. And thank you for the information. It really helped!

 

Yes, One tire with one strut with one spring multiplied four times equals four struts and springs. But like I said, the two fronts are different than the two rears, so be careful when purchasing them.

 

Thanks! And one last thing, if you know much. With S-TEIN springs, what are the best aftermarket struts that can handle S-tein? If anyone has an opinion or advice, let me know! I cant find a place that sells tokico for relatively good deals...the only ones ive seen was 100-120 for each one :\

 

tokico or kyb or koni's but koni's you're gonna have to hack up your front struts since it is not plug and play.

you won't find a more better deal than 100-120 for the tokicos so just find the cheapest and get them.

 

I cant find a place that sells them exactly for a 2006 scion tc. Its always just sold one indiviual here and there and some of them want 350-400 just for the front pair. Any reliable websites?

You never will. Suspension is the same for 2005-2010. That's how you will always see parts sold for the tC. Always just search for 2005 Scion tC, everything is the same with the 05 as your 06. Websites don't usually put the middle years in there, that's why parts don't come up too often for you.
