Default Test Drove Friends WRX

Yea ever since I got my tc my friend doesn't care if I drive around his tricked out WRX for the first time.

Of course the normal things people would say:
Handles great.
Pretty damn fast.
Nuff said and done there but there was something different about it that I just LOVED

The clutch...
Ours is sooooo unpredictable it is hard to shift gears in it compared to his.
His is also a great deal more stiff but in that car it just seemed the gears just went together so smoothly and impossible to stall.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get our cars have a more precise clutch?

Not sure if my wording is right...but I am sure someone has test drove them before and knows what I am talking about

Do you know what I mean though?
Its kinda like really really hard to push in but when you start releasing you can feel where to accelerate right away unlike ours when it seems like a guessing game to me

Maybe a Ingalls ETD and a stainless steel clutch line. Redline MT-90 tranny fluid will probably help as well.

really... a new clutch is in order. Remember that the tC is nothing more than a camry at heart. it's not the type of vehicle where performance is up front such as with a wrx. if you get a performance clutch, it'll stiffen up nicely.

a clutch and flywheel (not completely necessary... but might as well while the transmission is disassembled) is going to cost a few hundred bucks, plus some more for an install.

i know dezod has clutches. Check the sponsored slaes forum, i see them up there from time to time.

i had a wrx before my tc. a world of difference. (not only in handling and speed, but also in the pocket book! Insurance on that thing was twice my car payment!) anyway, new clutch and maybe a stronger pressure plate? im not sure if anyone makes stiffer pressure plates for the tC or if its part of the upgraded clutch, but that will definately help pedal feel.

I wish someone who had these would post up
Neothin you ever noticed the difference between our clutch and others?
It does seem kinda lacking on ours doesnt it?

yep, i had an srt-4 before the tC. THAT car has a nice transmission setup.

I've also driven around a 475 whp integra for a summer... stage 4 CM clutch :yikes: that's a pain to drive daily because it's so stiff, but alas, it felt nice.

So you think the clutch would seriously make it feel how you think I am going for?
I seriously hate second guessing while shifting haha
the only problem I had in the WRX was over reving never fear of stalling

yea, if you're gonna remain N/A for the most part i would say a clutchmasters stage 2 or 3 setup. and if you wanna go all out, do the alluminum flywheel as well. its true what Neothin said, the stiffer it is, the more of a pain it becomes to drive daily. your left leg is gonna be pumped! especially after sitting in So. Cal traffic! haha

the other thing that effects how the WRX feels though is the AWD.(especially during shifts or take off) keep that in mind...

haha yup!

a less expensive option you might want to try first would be a short shifter, weighted ****, and some bushings. check my profile for my setup, i love it! really gives me confidence with my throws.

i also test drove a wrx wagon, i know what u mean about their clutches. they are stiff but you can feel the point of engagement on it. the first couple of times you jerk it really badly, but 10 minutes later youre shiftin it like a pro... real easy to get warmed up to
