Default Tragedy! need help

So i was driving home from work when i admitedly took a turn a little too fast. The turn was pretty steep and i way underestimated it. i slammed into the curb and now my car drives really weird. I hear a grinding noise on the passenger side and the car drifts to the right now. its really hard to drive and my parents are not the happiest of campers. what do you guys think happened/what can i do? we're already getting someone in to come look at the car

yeah it looks alright, i'm not sure where the grinding is coming from, my dad took it out to see if it was because the wheel wasn't turning but it looks fine but a little slower than usual

you probably bent and broke some suspension components. way to show your responsibility to your parents by crashing your new car.

your alignment is probably way off, but you are going to have to jack up that corner, and take the wheel off to see what is going on under there.

Take it to a Les Schwab or equivalent shop in your area, and they should be able to get you back into shape. Please be more responsible with your vehicle from now on.

yeah i know seriously. i feel like such an idiot right now. i wasn't trying to go too fast or anything my turn just came up and i was like oh i'll try and go but i waay underestimated how steep the turn was. I surprised myself by being so stupid too, my buddy wrecked a volvo doing pretty much the same thing.

So yeah tomorrow we're going to take the car up to the dealer and see what they can do.

yeah, not sure exactly why my parents trust the dealer so much... especially since they are so far and driving the car is a doozy. but i'm not really in the arguing mood right now. i'll have them talk to the guys over there and hopefully my parents'll be talked out of driving over there. i went out and looked at the car and it seems like the wheel is bent in a bit at the bottom. something tells me there isn't going to be a happy ending to this...

Seems like a broken tie rod or bent control arm or lower ball joint.... that's my opinion... Hoping the strut isn't bent as well.. lots of things could be in factor..

could have dented the rim, thrown it out of balance, alignment is Def. off.

hard hits can mess up bearings too.

Honestly, even though your parents are ____ed, it seems as if they're going to help you through it, which is better than on your own.

It's much easier to deal with their B.S. and have them pay for it (in full or in part), than trying to come up with the money to get it fixed by yourself.

I'm fairly sure that if you love your car, you've already learned whatever lesson about safe driving.

this is whack, i bet if you would of paid for this car yourself you wouldnt of tried to make that turn.

sorry bout that unwanted opinion

anyways like everyone else says it seems like you bent all of that stuff up, same stuff got bent up on my tc when a lady made a right turn into me and pushed me into a curb lol from what i recall it was pretty expensive. you might want to go thru insurance?

yeah, insurance may be a good route, but depending on how much the repairs are and what your deductible is. For instance, my last bumper repair: 500 deductible and 800 for total repair. Not worth it then.

alrighty well the parents aren't too mad but they have the right to be. to be fair i'm happy i learned this lesson now and i'm not going to go out doing something stupid like this again. could have been a doozy down the road.

back to the car tho, we took it in to brakes plus (closest auto shop around) and we are getting them to do the alignment. I'm pretty sure that the alignment should fix the steering issue but the grating noise i'm guessing came from the brakes. I'll hear back from them in a few though.

Thanks for the help guys and yes i know i'm an idiot.

you might of bent your brake shield.
its the metal piece behind your brake rotor.
that might cause the unwanted noise.

ugh so i got a call back from brakes plus and they wanted $2700 to fix up the car because of a list of problems. off the top of my head they said the control arm is bent, some bracket is broken and something to do with the brakes. Tonight we're driving it 6 miles on over to the dealer. Needless to say i'm pretty mad at myself for being so incredibly stupid.

so good news and bad news came back from the dealer:

Bad: Its gonna cost $1700 to fix the car plus we need new front wheels (they were pretty bad pre curb incident) and i'm gonna have to wait a week to get it back

now the good: Car isn't as messed up as Brakes Plus said. Insurance is covering $1000 of repairs I'm getting new wheels and i needed to get the alignment done and a maintenance anyway so we're finally taking car in.

still learned my lesson but i'm trying to look at the positives here
