More power to you, then. I've seen it in people's cars and to me it looks like it just sticks out. I'd rather a 1-piece anyway. Personal preference. I'm glad I got the hotchkis... TRD Red would just stick out in my engine compartment... wouldn't look good.

you are so wrong! if done correctly: by installying the front strut tower bar with the car raised, you should receive great results from the bar!

i got the trd springs and sway bar serveral months after getting my tC
i felt a huge difference in maneuverability

but the front still likes to dive in hard cornering and the rear was leaning a lot...
overall the car wasnt the best in balance
until i got my front strut bar! its made by tanabe. They are one of the best company and the bar is strong + light

the end plates are made out of steel and thicker than some competitors'

i feel minimum to no body lean!

one down side is a rattle up front now... haha i need to find out whats causing it because i did not hear anything before the install up front

i use to turn out to this exit and the car leans like its about the flip in the rear (thats when i was going 40 maX)

Now after i got the front strut tower bar, i could go 50mph out the exit with ease!

front is totally planted to the surface
but the only problem right now are the rear tires too much pressure making my rear end give up too soon<< gotta loosen the pressure

so yeah, front struts are not only for looks

thats true, some people I have read installed them without raising the car. and if you dont do that than the bar wont do much if anything.

Default Please explain.....

Can someone please explain to me how does the strut bar keep the body from leaning ? ........ A sway bar connects the control arms to the body.

I have the all mighty TRD strut bar (came with car ) ......and i dont think it does anything AT ALL ,and i have 2 scions in the driveway 1 with and 1 without.

MAAAAAAAYBE it keeps the tops of the shock towers from moving around EVER SO SLIGHTLY but no notice from me,looks nice though

http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...1&parts_id=400

like 25 dollars cheaper than the TRD'ed one. i think its labeled as a toyota part because only the TRD'ed one is supposed to be available (you choose to have it silver (regular) or red and still have to pay for the TRD)

OK I actually SAW the TRD Bar yesterday at Peruzzi.

The Hotchkis bar has 3 pieces, which are bolted together - the 2 end mounts, and the main strut bar. You put it all together yourself and tighten it yourself.

The TRD strut bar is a SINGLE piece - the end mounts are welded to the main bar. It's probably more structurally sound, because it's welded. Then again, all the stress is on the weld.

Personally, I still like the Hotchkis over the TRD - because of the brushed titanium look.

And yes, I did jack up the front end of my car when I installed my strut bar. I had to to get the bolts on and off on the driver's side.

Oh, that is actually the hotchkis? Then why on earth do they put a toyota symbol next to it and not have the name hotchkis anywhere???

Anyone got a used one for sale? I want one so I can paint it Blitz Blue instead of buying the TRD one and repainting it.
