TRD Rear Sway - 'street' or 'race' setting?
I just ordered a TRD rear sway bar and while I wait for it to arrive I wanted to poll some people who have it and get their preferences. If you have the TRD rear sway bar, do you prefer the street or race setting and why? Plus, how long did it take to install?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Race.
Install is fairly easy, expect it to take 20-60 minutes depending on good you are at puzzles. The majority of the install time is spent wiggling the OEM bar out and the TRD bar in.

when you drive hard does the front slide out on you? does it "push" in corners? this is called understeer. The bar in the race setting induces over steer, teh rear trying to slide...well actually it makes it failry neutral, just a tad of oversteer. Just how i liek it.
yea the race setting makes a very nice difference. i drove the car around for about a week on the street setting and didn't notice much, but on race i sure did. it will oversteer before it under steers for sure!
Well i got some news...i installed the TRD bar in race setting about six months ago... well last week i started hearing this clunking from the left rear suspension... a little inspection revealed a snapped off bracket holding the bar...so my sway bar is just kinda hanging there. So im pretty mad cuz TRD supposed to be great and all
Race setting is far superior for handling. The street setting doesn't make enough of a difference for it to be worth the money, but the race setting is noticable. Anything stiffer would cause too much oversteer and a beefier front sway would be needed

whoever did the install is to blame. The hotchkiss as are a few others are 300% stiffer!!! and they dont snap mounts. I totalled my car by hitting a rock wall at 77mph and launching it 20 feet through the air and it didnt break my mounts with my trd sway. Ive seen stock camrys and corrollas with stock rear sway bars break from people installing new end links and not tighteneing them to spec.
The mounts broke because they were not torqued properly. Do not bash trd for this, only the installer.
