Default TRD shocks or Konis??

On my last car, I ran Koni yellows all around, with great results. With my tc, I was gonna either get Konis again or TRD shocks/struts, but wasn't sure how long the TRDs should last. My konis lasted 47k miles (the right rear needed to be revalved at that time), and I was wondering about how long the TRDs should last.

Thanks in advance

depending on what drop your going to have? I have a drop more than 1.25" which is more than the TRD springs so ill be going with Konis within the months.

If you get TRD springs, you can get TRD shocks. If you get anything else, you should get Koni shocks.

I was considering the TRD struts/shocks, I don't like the fact that you have to cut your OEM stuff to install the Konis. I decided to wait for other brands to step in like Tokico and Bilstein. I have the feeling the TRD setup is a ripoff...just me though.

what i said is good on paper, but other like "KINGxOFxSKA" have had good outcomes with TRD shocks on a big drop. Im still debating on wheather or not i want to cut whatever needs to be cut for the Konis to fit? If i can be convinced that the TRDs will do the job then i might go that route?

the thing is, i don't think the TRD setup can be revalved, so meaning when they're blown, they're blown, unlike the Konis.

I already have TRD springs that I bought a while back that have been sitting in my closet. Also, as far as gutting your stock shocks for Konis, I actually have a set of 07 shocks/struts/springs I bought for the sole purpose of using with Konis.

So basically all I need to know is how the Konis are with the TRD springs, seeing as I can go either way (Konis or TRDs) and still keep my stock parts intact. And also, about how long can I expect the TRD shocks to last with the TRD springs (if I go with TRD instead of Koni).

your saying you have TRD springs already and want Koni shocks? TRD shocks will work fine since their made for the TRD springs drop. You bought an extra set of stock shocks & springs if you plan on using Koni's?

yeah. i'll be running the TRD springs for a while (until winter) and then probably get some Ground Controls. I think I'll be going with Konis after all, since they will handle anything I throw at them.

I did buy an extra set of stockers from someone, just because if I go with konis, you gotta drill out/gut your fronts and put the koni inserts in, and I wanted to keep my stock stuff all intact, in case I sell the car later on or something.

I would also wait for other brands to come out too. Since I dunno if I would wanna cut my oem parts up but HEY...I got coilovers so I'm good .

It also seems like other companies are taking forever to come out something for the tC. Seems like a lot of companies are just playing it safe and taking their time to test.

yeah, but the tc has been out for more than 2.5 years. and if you ask almost any group of car owners, koni makes some of the best dampers available. they are one of the only brands where they can be revalved when they blow out, and also have a lifetime warranty.

From what I've heard from my suppliers tokico is in devolment of their shocks for the tC..the koni's require you to cut the top of your stock shocks drain the fluid and remove the internal parts..basically turning your stock shock into a sleeve so that you still have the brakects and such to hang the abs cords from. To much to just change shocks. the trd struts are just valved different from the oem shocks...just give it more of a "european" setup if you will. You guys know that TRD doesn't make any of their own parts right? The are just out sourced to a company to make them then TRD just slaps their label on them.

yeah I know that konis are inserts...I installed them on my civic's front struts back in the day.

this won't be a problem for me since I already have a whole suspension setup from an 07 tc, with top hats. this will allow me to take my stock dampers/springs out, and keep them together in units, which is good in case I decide to get rid of the tc sometime within the next year or two. I'd then use the fronts from the 07 setup and gut them for konis, and just use the rear top hats for the rear koni shocks.

this explains why I'm not hesitant to get konis for my car...
