I didnt have to take off the windshield wipers themselves. I took off the plastic clips holding the plastic cowl on and just lifted it up so I had space to work around. It was a tight squeeze but I got it to work.

Oh and if you didnt already know..you should have the front of the car raised so that there is no pressure on the struts when you're installing the bar. This will make it more effective performance wise.

Take off the wiper cowl. Don't make life hard for yourself. It is easy to take on and take off. Its ridiculous. Anyway, this way you can get a torque wrench in there. otherwise you're talking about trying to fit an open ended wrench in there and thats unreliable. Plus, you could end up breaking something when squeezing it so tight between the cowl and strut mounts. It literally takes 10-15 minutes to do the install w/ taking the cowl off. Don't cut corners...you will learn that quickly.
