Default TRD struts shorter than stock?

Installing TRD struts, I noticed that the TRDs are significantly shorter than the stock struts. Normal? How does this relate to ride height and quality?

well my trd's in the front were shorter.. but the rear were same size as stock. i also have the trd springs that helps with the drop but i still ride smoothly on them both together with the bumps and all. it would give a different feel to the driving if you didnt lower the car thats for sure. your best bet is to get springs as well. the trd are made so you can use them when you lower you car.. just like other aftermarket performance shock/strut combo's with springs and such. hope this helps out.

Yeah, I'm putting H Techs on as well... but the struts sort of set off an alarm, cause I had to lift up the wheel disc to bolt it back on. The shorter struts won't affect ride height?

no, because the springs are shorter as well..
shorter spring + stock strut = preloaded strut
shorter spring + shorter strut = right amount of compensation allowing your springs and struts to do their job correctly

i have TRD shocks and using Tein Htechs. the shocks are shorter in the front but the rear are relatively the same as the stock. with the springs the drop is noticeably low while the rear looks okay. still rides pretty smooth though. didnt want to get Stechs cause of my driveway. hell im already scrapping my front lip and stock exhaust when i drive up and down on it.

the trd struts are shorter than stock, it is not an illusion, the stock struts won't even fit in the boxes the trd ones come in.

how will it effect ride height and such:

1. ride will be alittle lower
2. if you're looking for ride quality, then you wasted your money, trd shocks are for better handling, they are stiff and responsive. not for comfort cruising.
