TRD Struts vs stock struts
I’m a little confused on your guys argument but maybe this will clear it up.....ride height is in the SPRINGS only minus air pressure....unless the seat for the spring is lower...i doubt it though; it would cause major tire clearance problem
TRD springs are still an after market product, in essense TRD an any other springs will lower your car on stock shocks & struts, making ur car lower than stock height. The dropp won't be significantly lower; but about 1.0 inch drop without TRD struts. Let say with the TRD shock absorber; it will give the car another .5 inches of drop with the combo of TRD springs & struts.
Yep, I have yet to see TRD springs on TRD struts sit any lower than mine did with TRDs and stock struts. As mentioned, the seat would have to be moved on the trd struts for them to lower any more.
TRD suspension drops the car 1.3 inches.. actually a tad less than that. Not 2 inches.
And dropping a tC 2 inches is way too far and hurts suspension geometry rather than helping it.
And a tC is not a sports car. Yes, you can make it handle well.. but that does not make it a sports car. If it were a sports car, it would be driving the wheels at the other end of the car for one thing.. or all 4

Yes, our stock struts can handle the trd drop just fine. Like I said, I ran mine from 15,000 miles until about 60,000 miles with trd springs, including 2 seasons of autox with no issues. They finally started feeling like they were beginning to go when I swapped to the ss-ps last spring.
I currently have 80.5k miles on my tC. I installed the TRD springs probably 3k miles ago. Do you think the stock struts will be fine for now? I noticed engifineer saying his struts started to go at around 60k miles, however, he had TRD springs for 45k miles beforehand. Since my car was not driven roughly until about 73k miles (when I acquired the car and started autocrossing), do you think the stock struts should be fine for a while?
Thanks
Thanks
when i went to a meet i noticed someone have TRD springs on stock struts while im running H-techs and TRD shocks. his car was actually lower then mine. i guess my struts sit just a tad bit higher in the rear.

Im in the same boat as you. I bought my car at 80,893 miles and now have 97,783 miles on it (thats only 10 months of driving) but it's all highway.
I think I may go the TRD spring route. Im doing the install myself (my dad has a hydraulic lift) so I can always redo it myself.
Walker, if you can, keep us updated on how your struts handle the TRD's, I'd be very interested considering you have high miles on your stock struts already.
Well autocrossing is hard on the struts. If you were like me and just have the car for a DD, then I think we'd be okay. But you are AC'ing
