uneven trd drop...normal?
hey all i just installed my trd lowering springs got them from trdsparks.com brand new and after i installed them the car is unevenly dropped in the front i can still stick 3 fingers in the gap on the front right side and the front left only 2 you can def notice the difference do you think it happened possibly from a bad installation? or should i wait to see if it settles b/c all the others sit fine except for that one also when i was installing them i had the car half way jacked up at a time and i put a lot of compression on the front left spring for like maybe 2 hours or so, should i jack up the car again and do the same to the right side like leave a lot of compression on the spring…when I had them next to each other they looked even so maybe it will even out? or am i screwed?
you only installed the springs right no sport shocks? the shocks on the driver side are probably softer from carrying your weight on that side for so long i'm guessing. i got both trd shocks and springs a month ago, and it has settled nice and evenly. i haven't done a finger check, but since it look even to my scrutinizing eye, that is all that matters to me.
also, your not screwed, they are trd, you have a 1 year 12000 mile warranty from factory defects or dealer install problems. so calm down.

i got my suspension from trdsparks too.
well, it couldn't hurt to call trdsparks just to document your concern.
you should have gotten it with the shocks. anyway, if you want, put like 200 pounds of something in passenger seat over night for a week and see if that helps settle the right side down.
also, remember to get an alignment in a week.

okay, i just got back from picking up pizza and wings for bull run and i checked my tc, three fingers each for the front, and two in the back. so i dropped even, but i have the sport shocks which have higher gas pressure so i guess your stock shocks with less gas pressure will settle more than mine.
I've heard of alot of TRD and Eibach owners having this problem, including myself. My passenger side is bout 1/2" higher than the drivers side. I've had the struts apart a couple times and its not the install, everything checks out. I think its due mostly to my weight (200 lbs) on the driver's side for atleast 500 miles every week.
yea i think that might be it i decided to give my jacking up the car and leaving it on a jackstand for a couple of hours so i'm waiting those hours and hopefully gonna see what happens...yea i also took into consideration the fact that there is 165 pounds on one side constantly and the fact that there is never anyoen else in my car i think that might be it...well im gonna let my experiment go and ill let you know how it turns out
The dampers have no effect on the ride height of the car (barring height adjustables, like those in coilover kits). The springs alone determine the static height. If you're not sitting evenly, it's an install issue 99% of the time. Also, due to the effect of cross weight, the highest corner is often not the improperly installed corner.
I corrected a buddy's TRD install (done by a shop) that was sitting about 1/2" higher on the passenger side. The passenger rear spring was clocked about 3/4" out of position. Reset the spring base, and his car sits fully level, as it should.
Three fingers of gap on TRDs? Man. I have one and a half fingers all around on the TRD package.

i have hotchkis and the passenger side was 3/4 inch higher than the driver side. Now it's been about 40 days since the install and the difference is now 1/4 inch.
AFter about 2 weeks i got frustrated and got 2 25lb stones from homedepot and put them in my rear trunk for about 3 weeks. It seemed to even it out alittle faster but if you weight 200lbs like me then the drivers side will settle in way faster.
Dont worry it'll be level within a month or two.

Did you cut your bumpstops? I did not at first. After cutting them I swear sit even. As far as a 3 finger gap that sounds like stock height. I have 1.5 finger gap if I am lucky.
my Trd gave me 1/8" of different on driver side rear wheel...and only that wheel grinding the fender when it hit uneven pathment...others wheels are just fine.....after routine rotation of wheels..(front to back..and vice versa) it showed up even worse..slide bump will notice the grinding...several friends who owned camry have the same problems...btw..after another routine rotation of wheels done...it backed to the beginning problem condition...also extra passenger n full tank of gas..gonna grind the hell out of it even on turning into or exist freeway ramp .....yeah..i got 2" drop by the way....thinking of might be TRD spring also the camber problems....a slight camber toe in might help..but dun have time now..just let it grind..
what do you guys think about this, theres a guys selling his TRD springs on Ebay for $50-$100 w/ 20k miles on them. Too many miles? The auction also states that he cut half of coil from each front spring to even out the drop (since the front usually sits higher). i asked if by cutting his springs. i asked if cutting the springs changed the ride from prior to cutting them. do you think this is a good deal or should i pass?
