When did u change your brakes????
10k isnt that bad for pads. well.. ok it is. but in my auto tc back in the day, i went through my first set in 7k. i know, it sounds crazy. if you stop a lot at high speeds, it'll kill the oems.
in my mt now, i replaced my pads with ebc reds at 27k, half of the pad life was still left. so i imagine i could have dragged that out to 40-50k.

So I'm kind of on a budget and I'm looking to replace all 4 pads since they are all going bad im at about 48k miles. I plan on getting the Axis Deluxe pads for my front off dezod.com since that plac eoffers the best price i've seen so far but i'm wondering what should i get for my rears and where should i get it? or should i just get axis in the front and rear? any help would do since i need to order and swap the pads asap
i changed mine at about 40,000 miles after about 2 years ! only the pads rotors were fine no warping nothing .
pretty good if you ask me
and they were super easy to do !almost to easy

i changed mine about 40k miles ago wtih the Dezod pads and they still have lots of bite on them (dezod that is, stock was shot) im gonna be needing new rotors soon so im gonna grab another set of dezods (i have 70+k miles on the car so yea im on my 3rd set of pads but only NEEDED to change them once
I'm at 90,000miles on both my stock pads and rotors. I just happend to be browsing looking for brake rotor deals and saw this post.
I can honestly say that the brake system on the tC, rather lacking in the 'sport' department are good brakes. I've never felt any major fading even during my many spirited driving rendevous (btw I see about 90% highway so I'm sure that helps). I'm also surprised that I got this many miles out of my stock ones. Even now they are just starting to squeak.
What I was shocked was the amount of money the OEM rotors would cost me! My stealership quoted me at $114 for EACH front and about $100 for EACH rear!?! WOW! GOLD ROTORS for the tC?!?
I know a lot of people will be saying "get a BBK or slotted or this and that" but this is my daily driver which means not a lot of frills and REALIABILITY is a must! Since I'll get 90+k miles out of the stockers I'd really like to get them again. But whew what a price.
I got a good quote for some Axxis Ult. and I'll probably go with Brembo blank rotors. It just seems like no one carries them in stock...

Unless you are driving on a road track, aka stopping from 100 - 20 repeatedly, 10k on the stock pads is horrible, no way around it. If you are doing that on the street, you are probably riding the brakes all the time due to bad habits.
I just replaced the rotors on my saturn (winter car since I bought the tC) last weekend. The rotors had around 70k that I know of on them, maybe more. But, the reason was that the salt here in MN in the winter, plus the car sitting too much this summer without being driven, caused the inboard pad to stick, so it would compress against the rotor, but would stick there, overheating the pad severely and causing it to crystallize and fall apart. Also warped a rotor. But, the point is that rotors and pads should last you a good long time.
I have had my axxiss pads on for about 15,000 miles now including a summer of autoxing it here in the twin cities and they are good to go for a nice long time still.

Work on your braking habits. Typically I would say you are most likely riding your brakes too long before stops. Also, do you drive using left foot for braking? If so, that is a bad (and dangerous) habit for normal driving, and most times I see left foot brakers going through pads more often.
Of course, on a track or autox course, left foot braking is your friend.

i do a lot of engine braking, so i have a ton of brake life. also, when i use brakes, while i know they are not exactly the sportiest of brakes, they dont have to be. just learn to brake better as a driver. braking is just as important as acceleration.
also, for some much less expensive rotors, ive been looking at... http://www.turboimport.com/catalog/scion.htm but im sure there are better deals and better rotors out there.

I use my right foot for braking(5 speed).
