Default When to replace stock Potenzas?

I recently hit 15k on my tC I'm wondering if I should look into replacing my stock Potenza tires soon - I would say I have about 60% of the miles on the highway, in mixed conditions. Can anyone help me with this? There seems to be no info on it from tirerack or edmunds.

that all depends on how you drive your car, some people have said they have over 30,000 miles on the tires on other vehicles with the RE92's and they still have tread left, and others say they have over 10,000 on them and they're about gone.

If I were you and I had the money to replace the tires, I would do it now. It's getting past spring and I'm sure you'd love it if your tires would grip the road better, have less road noise, corner harder, and stick to the ground in the wet better than the tires you have now.

I'm replacing my tires as soon as I get the chance, I'm so tired of not getting ANY grip at all on even the slightest take off from a light in the rain, and the back end always feeling like it's sliding in the rain (it actually has a few times around corners and it scares the hell outta me)

and I'm tired of taking corners that recommend you go 20 in a 45mph zone at 40mph and feeling the tires start to lose it... I'm hating the stock tires more and more every day now that it's nicer weather....

and don't even get me started on how it was like an ice skating rink in the few inches of snow we had many times this year.....

thanks dude I don't drive the tC hard, but I did notice that when I took the road a little more aggressively, it does start to slide a bit. Last weekend as I driving through Ohio, it was snowing heavily (wtf, you might be thinking, in late April?!) and I got stuck in a gas station whose owner had not plowed... took my a good 6 or 7 minutes to dig myself out. argh.

I am going to ask my dealer to take a look at my treads and make a recommendation. what tires are you planning on getting, and from where?

A way to estimate how much tread you have left, is by taking a penny, and sticking it between two of the channels. I believe your ok if lincoln head is partially covered still, but you should look into getting new tires, it doesn't hurt. To find new tires, I would go onto tire rack (www.tirerack.com) and look for some nice Ultra High Performance All Season Tires. Here is a ranking chart from tirerack, where they rate of the tires in that category...

You just have to figure out how much you are willing to spend.

I currently have just under 33,000 on mine, and 25-35% tread left, mostly all freeway miles, and 3 auto-X events. So I would say that they last over 30,000 just fine.
