yes, go wider.........if you stick with 17's which there is nothing wrong with that, try to go wide......17x8.5 maybe 17x9....and get some nice sticky tires.
I went from 17 to 19, then back to 18" and i really like the 18"s but if i was to run 17's i would go 17x9 or as wide as i could.......

7" is still a little thin IMO. look for something that's 8" wide or so. this makes it easy to mount up 225+ width tires.

my plan when tires worn out

225/45 17 - 17x8 or x7.5

you should read the new article on myths about modding on sport compact car.

bigger is not always better

dude. you can stay with 17x7 or 7.5 18's+ you will loose some performance. and cmon an 8.5 or 9 wide ??? what do you want this guy to do rub his fenders out. you people are talking out your ___.

if you go 18s try to stay atleast in the 8 inch wide range. i wouldnt recomend 18s because im not into looks but w/e you want thats fine. but 17x7/7.5 or 18x7.5/8 is fine. you can still mount a 17x7.5 wheel on our stock tires.. they will stretch just a tad but you'll be fine until you have money to upgrade for a slightly wider tire.

like posted above.. bigger is not always better.

i got hit by a guard rail.. lol... and 2 of my rims took damage... and insurance will pay me $420 per rim alone... i was thinking about going to wheels next for 4 rims and tires.... comes with tires, springs, mounted... etc.. etc... sell the springs off for cash... and blah blah... im just wondering what i should do... might just stick with 17... but wondering how wide.... 18's had a big price difference.

What is your goal for the car, looks, performance, or a compromise between the two? If it's performance, then look for 17x7" that are lighter weight than stock. If looks (larger wheels implied), then lots of people here will offer suggestions.

Has anyone successfully put 17x9's or larger on their tc with no rubbing? I had 17x10 on my eclipse and really liked the look and performance. I would like to do the same with the tc but I don't see 17x10 as being realistic with my tein s-techs. I don't plan to make as much power in my tc as my eclipse so it would be more of a fashion statement. Sorry for stealing the thread but it sort of applies.

im gonna guess... but i think you would have to get your fender rolled for the 17x10's.... those are some wide mothars...

i really like the way the tenzo passions look.... and there 900 for 4 wheels... rims ++

the axis reverbs are 1000...
the passions are 17x7 and the reverbs are 17x7.5... we're looking at a $100 difference...

like is it just worth it? the tires seem thin on the stockies... but does that extra .5 make a difference? does it seem any wider? any noticeable traction?anything?im not looking for a big change... after my $1000 insuraance deductible... yes i am on a budget...
