Default 48mm offset, is it gonna look weirddd? i can get spacers?

im lowered on hotckis springs and i already rub the liners with my stock wheels with the 225 tires, plan on getting coilovers my next $1200

im thinking about buying rims but i recently bought brand new tires so i have to get rims the same size as my tires.. so i have a few questions

which ones will look better and not eat up my fenders

17 x 8 +48
or
17 x 7.5 +45

i could potentially get spacers right? and flush it out a litte bit?... everyone says no spacers but all i do is drive to and from work, and to ppls houses.. i dont auto x or anything

the tires i have are 225/45/17 will thos fit too?

please help me out.. or at least explain offsets hahah[/b]

17x7 et 45 is stock specs....48 you'll be tucking in, its not too bad, I think theres a few people here running 48's.

im gonna be running +35 offset so it won't be as far in as the stock ones are.

checho10 alright thanks for the help!

but as for spacers if i get 15mm spacers does that just subtract from the offset.. so the 15 mm spacers would make it to where it would b like a 33mm offset? which will make it sit flust?

if thats completely wrong, dont bust me out to bad hahah

I have 18x7.5 et48 and they were pretty sunk
I installed 25mm spacers all around. The front is flush, but the rear would need 30mm to be really flush, but they still look good as is.

I use ichiba V2 spacers (has own built in studs and hubcentric ring)

I rub on dips and bumps now with TRD drop (it's just the rear that rubs though)

I actually have 2 pairs of 20mm spacers laying around (also ichiba V2) because my wheels didn't have a deep enough cavity to take in the oem studs that stuck out a bit causing it not to sit flush on the spacers. But it's for the better since I like the look of the 25mm better.

If you get spacers with built in studs make sure your wheels have cavities that can support it (that only applies to spacers under 25mm)

But then again, any spacer over 20mm is pretty extreme. I wouldn't use them unless they came with a hubcentric ring. It's best to just get wheels with proper offsets to begin with. Only reason why I have the et48 is cause it was a deal I couldn't pass up.

If you look in my profile you will see in all of my photos with my car without spacers on the 7.5 et48 wheels. They don't really look all that bad though, it's pretty much close to oem wheel offsets which you are familiar with.

fyi an 8 et+48 = 53.6mm out from the hub
7 et+45 = 43.9 mm out from the hub

so he'll actually be sticking 9.7 mm out from the stock whee. which is approximately 3/8"

There is nothign wrong with running spacers. yea a better offset from the start is nice but we cant always get that. I am gettign a good deal on some wheels and they are +45 so i am gonna get 15mm spacers for front and 20 for the rear. It wont be completely flush but it will be much better than the 45 offset. I ahvent seen anyone have problems with spacers and ihave heard they are fine for track use and auto-x.

uhh........... wrong

spacers wont automatically cause problems but they're definitely more dangerous than properly fitting wheels.

Judging from your sig - aren't you trying to save up for a new car? If thats the case I wouldn't spend another dime on your tC IMO..use that $1200 that you want to use for coils and the $x.xx amount for your wheels toward a down payment

I know I'm not answering your original ? but just a thought

Ok that statement was a lil off. They can be dangerous if installed wrong and way to big. But they can be beneficial and can work without causeing problems. Re-thinking i wouldnt go over 15mm to be safe. But overall they should be fine for track use and DD.

actually the smaller spacers are far more dangerous than the larger ones. The larger spacers are supplied with new lug studs where as the smaller ones are not.

the smaller spacers rely on the stock studs which reduce the amount of threads which can break and be bad hahaha.

not trying to be a dick, just trying to inform people properly
