Default Axis TC Evo - NEW PIX PG. 3

OK, I am ready to order my new wheels and tires. Since this is the first time I've bought any of this stuff, I thought it would be wise to post what I'm planning on getting so the experts here can tell me if I'm making any mistakes.

For wheels, I'm getting Axis TC Evos - 18x7.5", 5x100, +35 offset
http://www.axiswheels.com/wheels/tcevo/tcevo.html

This place had the best price. Anyone have any experience with this retailer?
http://wheelstudio.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id/6893

Since I'm in Iowa, I need an all-season tire. These Avons are the best rated AS performance tires on Tire Rack and are not very expensive:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ech+M550+A%2FS

They come in these sizes:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....ech+M550+A%2FS

I calculated that I should get "225/40WR18 XL" based on the calculator here:
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

That gives me a wheel/tire combo that is 1.88% (0.47") larger than stock. A question - what does the "XL" in that size code mean?

In addition, I need lug nuts too I believe. Another post here pointed to these products for use with Axis wheels:
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...402+4294906667

Does anyone recommend any one of those sets over the others for any reason? Or some other site? Do I need to get a kit that also includes valve stems?

18x7.5/+35 seems to be a pretty common fitment so that should be good to go right? Right now my plan is to drop on H.Techs (1.9F/1.5R) sometime in the future - will everything still fit then?

I think that about covers it. Please let me know if everything looks OK or if something looks wrong. Thank you!

You should also speak to a the online site sales rep. They are informative on what rims and tire size is right for your car. Most of the dealers will provide you with 16 locking wheel lugs that match, but I would buy locally a additional good 1 set of lug locks to add on. The locks they give you may have many generic keys that match, easier to steal. 2 set of locks is better than one, just my 2 cents. I believe most wheels come with chrome valves + caps. They will also provide you with shims if required. Ask for this info with the rep. I hope this little tid bit helps you with your purchase. Good Luck!

After further investigation, it looks like the wheels are actually +45 offset. So maybe I'll end up putting some H&R spacers on eventually. How well will an 18x7.5/+30 wheel fit?

Anyone know if Axis wheels use standard or tuner lug nuts?

OK, I went through the "wheels show-off" thread to get a better list of what fits (I added what I found to the "what fits" thread). Among what I found were these two:

18x7.5/+30 215/40/18 TRD
18x7.5/+45 225/40/18 Tein SS+P

So I guess these wheels should fit with or without 15mm spacers.

Anyone think they won't?

Should I get the spacers right away?

Wow, no one likes me!

Maybe some Photoshop pics will give people something to post about:

The Axis TC Evo has that paintable lip that I'm planning on getting painted white. So I'm pretty set on the wheels.

So I'm now I'm thinking of 15mm spacers in front and 20mm in the rear. A couple of guys in this thread run 20mm spacers on the stock wheels with S.Tech drops.
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63775

My wheels would stick out an extra like 6mm from stock, but I'm not planning on dropping that low... just TRD or H.Tech.

Will it work? I really want the wheels to be flush with the fender.

Wheels and tires ordered.

Wheelstudio.com was great to deal with on the phone, and they're including lug nuts and hubcentric adapter rings for free:
4 x TC Evo Graphite w/Silver Ring (Axis.TC Evo.5x100.18.7.5.42.gphwsr) = $500.00

Tire Rack for the tires:
4 225/40WR-18 Avon Tech M550 A/S XL In Stock $120.00 $480.00

The info on the Wheelstudio confirmation looks like the wheels have a +42 offset. I think I'm gonna wait to get the spacers until I have the new wheels on and I can get a better idea of how it'll all fit together.

Thanks.

Wheelstudio just had a killer price. The link is in the first post. All other places wanted well over $200 a piece for them. They also had the 19s for only $175. Not only were the wheels super cheap, but they threw in all the hardware for for free! Shipping was $60.

Everything should get here some time this coming week!

Did you see that those wheels in hyper dark finish are only $145 each? Here, I figured out a link to the 18x8 size:
http://wheelstudio.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id/8464

Looks like +38 offset:
[Verde.Koas.hypdkml.18x8.5x100.38.73.1]

Wheelstudio is where I got my wheels and tires also. The best prices on the web and a great staff. John was my salesperson and he was great. Nice job on the rims.

Here you go.

The lip is sorta light grey since I just took the wheels out of the Photoshop files I already made and darkened the lip a touch. From what I understand, the lip on these is not a normal silver finish... it's more like the reflective material that the writing of road signs is done with. I saw a night picture of these wheels once and the lip was seriously glowing. The Wheelstudio rep even commented on how cool the lip on these wheels was, and when I mentioned that I was planning on painting them white he said that they were already close to white and once I saw how cool they were I probably wouldn't want to paint them.

When I get them on I'll be sure to post both day and night pics.
