Changes in Scion tC Wheels/rRms over the years?
Hi All,
I just wanted to check and see if there have been any major changes in the Scion tC wheels/rims over the years? I have an 05 Scion tC and took a huge bolt that went through the rim (destroyed it, I'll post pics later)
and am looking for a replacement, so I wanted to make sure that other years of rims will work fine as replacements (no weight differences, finish/color differences, etc).....
Also, does anyone know if there is a warranty that comes with the OEM tires on the Scion? My tire had 27,000 miles on it, and the hole from the bolt is un-repairable. Has anyone had success getting the dealer to replace the tires under some kind of mileage guarantee?
Thanks!
Brian

No tire warranty will cover a puncture due to road debris. The tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer, but it wont cover a bolt going through it
The rims are the same year to year AFAIK. The 07's and up will have TPMS sensors in them if the seller hasnt removed them yet, but the rim design should be the same. Actually, if you buy used 07-08 rims, be nice and remind the person to get their sensors out of them. You will be saving them hundreds of dollars to buy new ones
The 05-06 doesnt need them.

Don't get a 'Spec tC' rim by mistake!
Depending if you need your tC right away, trdsparks.com used to sell the 'take offs' (17" OEM rims that were taken off at the dealership because buyer requested the 18" upgrade.) for like $125 ea. (Email Ken @ trdsparks.) Takes about a week to get one. Heck of a lot cheaper than going through your dealership.

I was driving along, getting into a left turn lane going maybe 20 mph. All the sudden, POP! fa-fump-fa-fump and then I stopped (knew I blew a tire). I still can't quite explain the physics of it, only thing I can think is the front tire kicked it up and somehow it hit the rear just right (it was the right rear that blew)....
OMGWTF
Wow ... I read how it happened ... but I still can't help but ask HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?
That's just incredible bad luck. Would hate to see what happened to whatever's missing that big a bolt too ...

i did it. i have a bolt gun that shoots out bolts at incredible amounts of speed. i was aiming for this guy's tire since day 1. i had the perfect shot so i took it.. nailed him..or should i say bolted him!
