Default falken 452, falken 912, or kumho ast any feed back

im looking for feed back mainly on falken 912's and kumho ast's... ive had falken 452s before and loved how they performed in the florida heat and also in the rain 70 mph easy...

its that time where right now im looking for new tires and wanted others feed back on the the 912s and also the kumho asts since i can get cheaper deals on both and im also lookin to increase my tire life a little... even though the 452's lasted me a nice chunk of time and about 20k miles roughly.. im looking for some other opinion NON tire site....

thanks fellas!

dunno how much camber you're gonna be running but i run a -1 camber in the rear and -.5 in the front on my 912's and i've put about 32k miles on it and still have about 40% tread left. it gets the job done in the rain so no complaints here. it's not the greatest and not the crappiest but i love it for the price i got them for.

The 912s are a great budget tire, but the 452's are more grippy. I have heard mixed reviews on the Kumhos. Look at reviews on tirerack.com.

452 gives you slight better grip and you can flip them if there's too much camber wear on one side. I'm ghetto so I flip my tires to get the most out of them. the 912 has inside/outside sidewalls, so theyre non-directional (you can rotate your tires without worrying if they're on the proper side of the car).

yo pete, i got some 912's in 225/45/17 that i got from checho a while back that im gonna sell

2 have about 70% life, other 2 about 55-60%

that being said, ive owned 3 sets of 912's, 215/45 i had on the is300 felt great, a little soft on the sidewalls but not to bad for the price of the tire, lasted about 30k miles on the lex, i had the set im sellin on stockied only for about 5k miles (bought from checho) and now the 225/40 on the rpf1s which i love, got about 7k miles on them and still like new!

I have the Kumho Ecsta ASTs, I was a little wary based on the same reviews, but I like the look and feel the bring. They seem to give me plenty traction wet or dry and at higher speeds as well.

Mine are 205/35/17 in size in case that affects anything.

I can't say much about life as I've had them only about 3k miles, but they seem to be wearing just fine as far as I could tell when I took them off to do some work on my car.

Hope that helps

i try to run as close to 0 as i can maybe -1 at most since i hate killing tires with camber.. that was another reason i did buy those 452s since i knew initially i might have that issue.. sadly i cant do that with the 912 and the kumho but i dont worry about it anymore since i run very little camber to have as much contact as possible.

lol thanks man i really preffer a 235 since it will be nice and chunky and give me that extra side wall protection for the lips i like to have. i drove today a car with 912s and i was happy but also sad at some of th performance parts so i think kumho ast's are gona be the wheel.. im getting a killer deal for them so i might try them out... worst case they suck in which ill just flip them off to someone or just ride it out for a while.

TY everyone so far.

yep 452s are better of the 3 but i'd get the 912s over the kumhos. i've had all 3 tires and i like both falkens over the Kumho. i had kumho back in '97 on my '95 integra. they were decent on dry and hydroplaning on wet. gave the kumhos one more try. last year i put Kumhos on my SC400's rear tires and got the same results.

with the 912s i have nothing but good to say about them. decent price, good wet and dry traction. not the best but def get your money's worth. highly recommended for DD.

i think i already told you but i head falken 452s ( and 512) and they were bald pretty fast. Then i had spt and now i have ast. And ast is holding up like a champ. I already have 15k on them and still has 30-50% thread left. I dont do autoX so i cant tell you if they are worst or better than the 452's. I cant feel the difference. But 1 thing sure. Im tired of changin my tires every year so i love the ast. But if i need to buy new tires disregarding threadlife i would go for the hankook v12's.

Best tire for the $100 zone.

Yup, 452's grip better but don't last as long, I loved my 512's but they stopped making them so my box rides on the 912's...lots of grip and control when it's wet outside, had the Ecsta SPT's on my moms TSX, they didn't last very long and 2 of them bubbled, so that was my first and last Khumo experience.

well i got a great deal on the AST's guys and picked them up.. 300 bucks brand new =D ...so ill try them out and see how they are. not worried much about rain anymore since i know i drive slow and safe in the rain... i really care about dry conditions since miami is always hot lol

thanks fellas.. if these dont please me i guess ill just sell them or ride them out and pop on my 452s or maybe something a little nicer next time around
