sciontc_mich,
I'm in Michigan also and well . . . you know the roads. What would you recommend for a quiet tire. Kumho Ecsta's, Falken Ziex or Nitto NT555? or something else? yes, I'll be driving in winter on them, and no not interested in supreme ultra performance, just a quiet ride.
Tire rack and Discount tire have comments from owners but some are really old and well . . . technology on the tires their complaining about could have been improved.

I would be careful with the FK452s, I have seen a bunch of the bubble up, like a good dozen of the them. You just have to make sure that they are filled to the correct amount all the time, but it might just be easier to go with a different tire
The Falken FK452's are great tires. You will enjoy evry sinlge aspect of them. Just make sure that you take it to a good tire shop because the beads can be easily broken on a 19" if they do not know what they are doing and that can cause bubbles on the sidewalls in an instant.
Falken 452 are a good choice for tires. They have 300 A A ratings, meaning good tread, streetability and they are performance tires, meaning they have reinforced side walls. The falken 452 offer both good wet and dry performance. As for the bubbling, it only occurs on aggressive setups, i.e. stretching, super low pro. Its a good all around tire. I had them, and got another set.

checking 1010tires.com, which i believe what they say, said the NT555 isn't even an all-season tire, got a 0 out of 5 for snow. here's the link http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...=Nitto+-+NT555
I know you've heard us praising the Toyo Proxes4 but here's a link check it out.. we all love this tire!

Looks like the Kumho Ecsta ASX (i think that's the one you meant) was higher priced, have to check an american tire store to see the price.

I just don't have any personal experience with Kumho. Or Falken, but the Kumho's reviews on other sites have people saying they've lost some steering feel when they put on the Kumho's. That's the trade off, for snow traction sometimes, is a lack of feel in the tire. but I can see why you like them, they're not that expensive.
have you thought of also taking a look at BF Goodrich's new g-sport all season? The reviews look good and good for snow too. As well as ride comfort and ride noise! It's about $20 more a tire it looks like. maybe look at that as well? something else to think about.
Also- I don't buy from TireRack anymore since all I was getting from them, tire after tire, was one defective tire after another. And I was close enough to Indiana to go down to their location to have my car serviced directly by them! It's an extremely large place! wow! But.. People will probably defend them, all the stuff I ever bought from them was bad (out of round, internal steel belts misaligned, etc). I finally gave up on them and bought them from a local tire shop, no more issues. Since you're in michigan check out belle tire they've been good. Insist also on the torque stick when they first tighten them down with the air wrench (DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO USE AN AIR WRENCH WITHOUT A TORQUE STICK! OUCH!) and follow up with 76ft-lbs on a torque wrench.
Discount Tire on the other hand has been hit or miss with their quality of service. And I wouldn't even think of going to sears! You can tell I've been down this road many times.
but you wanted a quiet tire, and of course all-season. The proxes4's are decent in snow, just not perfect, then again if we want perfect we'd buy snow tires. And they're quiet. The BFG g-sport a/s look good for snow and are quiet (according to the reviews) the Kumho ASX look decent but I'm not sure you want to give up steering feel. And the Nitto NT555 forget snow with that tire.
Hope that helps.
