Default How long does the stock yokohama S32A last?

Hey guys, I have 15k on my tires and was thinking about getting new tires when I hit 20k: I don't drive to crazily but not too conservely either... I rotated my tires the first time at 13k. And the front tires which is now at the back is almost weared out. The front is ok, but I think it will be dead by 20k. (PS - I learned how to drive stick on this car so I might have burnt out a couple of times but still not too much: Car mostly launches off at 1.5-2 rpm or that's mostly how much it revs before moving?... don't really know how to explain it too much ) Does that sound right? What about you guys? How many miles before you guys changed the tires on the stock yokos?

My Yoko's lasted about 4 days!!!

Seriously, I pulled them off the factory rims and kept them as a spare set for when the Falken Ziex-512s I have on my Falken rims wear out.

80$ Man that is cheap, what rating are they? I looked into the toyo proxes 4 something or rather and they were like 150 each, but then again they are suppose to be the good ones.

The pirelli's that come ont he Factory 18"s are only supposed to last 20k or so. They are a racing compound tire. The Yoko's will probably last around 35-40k which is fairly normal for Yoko's as well, whether factory or aftermarket. Im a big fan of the Falken Ziex-512, sticky tire but still good for close to 50k, and not very expensive either.

I destroyed my stock Yokohamas. 14K and the tread was near gone. I read somewhere about something not being done right when the tires are put on the rims, which causes the sometimes severe wear. I wish I could find what it was again.

they have a 160 treadwear rating...that's their resistance to wear. it's low, so, unless you baby the car, don't expect much.

My yokos have 18K on em, I expect at least 5-6k more out of em, but I plan on swapping them out for much better tires before the winter hits.

So, the moral of the thread is: It depends on your driving style.

Faster wear does not always mean a 'cheap' tire.

The stock Bridgestone Potenzas on my car lasted about 20k.

I am on the 18" Yoko's that came on my RS1. They have been on for 36,000 miles, but I need to get new ones. Getting pretty bald and LOTS of road noise.

Everyone knows that the Yok's wear fast. That's why they've changed to pirellis, but from what I understand...........not too much difference.

Oh, and mine began to wear out @ 19k

just hit 7K today on my yoko's and their still in good shape. My friend said they would last till roughly 15k with that low of a treadwear # but who knows. I had a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX's on my Maro and GTP and they were decent tires if u only wanted them to last around 20k so beware of that tire if it will even fit a TC. Only buy the kumho ASX's if ur prepared to wipe the lower part of ur fender off daily when the rubber builds up.

My Yoks have 28k on them and they are getting bad. I am experiencing a lot of road noise, to the extent that driving my car is unpleasant and the sound is really anoying. I hope it is just the worn out tires making noise and not some other problem, like a wheel bearing or something worse... Im saving up for some new Toyo Proxie 4s, and I hope that new tires will solve this issue and hopefully greatly improve the ride. I just dont understand why balding tires with not alot of tread can sound like mud tires going down the road!
