Default Nippon Racing Wheels - info

I'm thinking of getting a set of these Nippon Racing wheels off ebay.. I've done some extensive searching and I haven't heard anything bad, but not much good either. Anyone know if they're decent? Check them out.

Opinions?

I think the white ones would look awesome on a SW... but I'm not sure.

edit: changed the topic a little

They'll look small, but it's up to you.

I didn't see the weight listed, and feel that's VERY important, so I don't have enough info to form an opinion.

They're like 22lbs. I know it's heavy, but I'm not really going for performance... I have an A/T anyways.

Anyhow, I ended up getting them for lower than they were listed. I don't know the centerbore, and I doubt the seller will be including hubcentric rings or valve stems, plus I need new lug nuts now. I already have tires, just need to mount/balance them. I'm kinda freaked out, I'm not sure these will look good. But, they were pretty darn cheap, and I'm basically using them as a stepping stone until I can afford 18's or 19's.

After googling like crazy for 2 evenings and finding nothing about the centerbore of Nippon Racing wheels, I managed to get a reply from one of the 2 sellers on eBay that carry Nippon's. According to him, the centerbore is 73.1mm. After I have the wheels (they're arriving Friday) and can confirm that number, I'm going to let Wheelspecs.com know, because I spent a loooong time looking for the info... maybe I can help the next guy out a bit.

Google bait: Nippon Racing centerbore is 73.1mm.

Default NIPPON RACING WHEELS VERSION 5

I've been looking at those same white rims for my incoming SW spec.

Did you make him an offer on ebay? Can I ask how much?
How much were the tires and everything?
Are you happy with them? Can you post pictures pleeeeease?

I just got those two, haven't got them mounted on tires yet, did you get the gunmetal finish?

Yep, got them from the eBay guy. I paid like $35 less than he was asking. As for the tires, I got them several months ago when tirerack.com had a great deal on them. After the rebate they ended up being like $63 per tire; they're $169 per right now. I think I've spent about $750 on the tires, wheels, mount/balance, lugnuts/wheel locks/valve stems kit, and hubcentric rings.

I'm happy with them, at least I will be once I have everything squared away. As it is right now, the lugnuts I got are too long; the center plate that covers the lugnuts won't fit over them. I'd recommend open end lugnuts, around 21mm or 0.85" in height. I think the bulge acorn style is what I need, I'll confirm this on here once I find out. As for the quality of the rims, they seem sturdy. The guy who mounted the tires pointed out that one of the polished lips had a little indention in it, but it's barely noticeable, and for that price (over eBay), it could have been much worse.

I just finished installing my springs last night, and got the tires/wheels mounted and balanced today. Finished putting them on the tC tonight, I'll be taking lots of pics soon, once I get the lug nut thing sorted out.

Default thanks for the reply

thanks for the info, I'm really thinking about getting these rims then. It seems like a great deal on some nice rims. I park in areas where my car might get jacked and while these rims aren't super cheap, they're also not the type of rims that the gangsters in my area are looking for.

I can't wait to see pics. I've got another 3-5 weeks wait for my super white spec and the suspense is killing me. At least I can start getting my mods before the car gets here!

small update for ya:

I searched all over town looking for the lugnuts I need, without much luck. So I ordered a set from sfxperformance.com, and they should be here in 5-10 days from monday.

I'm going to take some pics tomorrow of the wheels as they are now, just to give you an idea.

Not sure about about the other guys wheels, but the wishbone that I got weight a little less than 18lb, which be everything that I've read is lighter than stock.
