opinion on Potenza RE960
I havent seen much info on these tires from scionlife members. I went to a firestone dealer on saturday for a tire recommendation and the guy suggest the Potenza RE960 over the toyo proxes 4. I was set on getting the Proxes 4 but I want to make sure that I dont overlook anything.
Has anyone here dealt with the Potenza RE960 at all. Or can anyone tell me how they would compare to the proxes. Also any tires you suggest within the all-season performance tire would be appreciated.
I am looking for something thats quiet and pretty smooth. and of course handles well in wet/dry and hopefully icy conditions.
thanks

The 960 in tests at tirerack.com as well as reviews, doesn't really make me think it's that great in snow. The Proxes4 is decent in snow, stays pliable when you get to sub-zero temps. The one to look at is the new BFG g-sport all season i think it's called. or the goodyear f1 all season (awesome reviews on this tire!).
For the money the Proxes4 is a good tire, and with rotations every 3000-3500 miles (yes toyo requires that to maintain warranty), tire should last about 25,000-30000 miles or so, depending on how you drive.
hope that helps ya.. we all like the proxes4, we admit that. But there are other tires out there that are better than the 960's. I've found with some of the Bridgestone Potenza series, which is their performance tire series. Have a problem with being out of round. Maybe it was just my luck, but my old car went through a lot of those until they found some that didn't vibrate due to being out of round.

My friend has the RE960s on his WRX, and he likes them a lot. He says they do ok in the snow and well in the dry...
*Bump*
Just gotta post a reply on this because I am looking at getting new tires soon. I was looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season, but they got destroyed in this test. The Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position and the BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S did the best. The Potenza was slightly better in wet conditions, and the g-Force was slightly better in dry conditions, but the Potenza destroyed the g=Force in noise and ride comfort. What do you guys think? Opinions on the test?
