Default overspray paint on rotors

I just got rims today and as I watched them install them, I saw them spraying the calipers with something and so I asked him what that was he was spraying on them and he said paint. I kind of got mad that they would do that without asking me. He said they are told to do that when they put new rims on a car. I asked him if it was ok to get paint on the rotors and he said it will come off. But I thought I would ask you guys if it is ok. I would have thought that it would not be good for the brakes or rotors to get paint on them. I've seen others do it but not without masking the rotors to keep paint off of them. And I am kind of worried about the paint chipping or peeling over time, especially since he didn't even clean the calipers first.

Default I wouldn't worry about the overspray

This shouldn't be a problem and the overspray will be worn away pretty quickly as you drive around and apply the brakes.

That said I'd be more concerned about what they aprayed on the calipers and if they prepped them or simply hit them with some paint. Typically when you paint your calipers, you use ceramic paint (kits available from a variety of sources) because of the heat normally generated in the caliper during normal braking/use. If they simply hit your cailpers with some generic silver paint, I would expect it to start flaking off over time.

Default

So I went and talked to them today and he said the paint they used is engine paint and will withstand the high heat. As far as not cleaning the caliper first, he said they have never had a problem with the paint flaking off because of it and if it does start coming off to just bring it in and they will take care of it.

By the way, they used gloss black paint. I like the way it matches the black on the Konig Unknowns.
