Default Painting my stockies this week.. need some advice.

Have an Azure Pearl tC. Calipers are already painted royal blue.. going to paint my wheels satin black with matte clear coat. What do you think will look better.. Blue or Black lugs? I think the blue will add nice contrast but it may not match my calipers well. And Black will be a nice clean look. Thoughts?

I would say blue, but only if it matches the calipers. Also, if you are going to paint your lugs, you are going to mess up the paint as soon as you go to tighten the lugs down.

Yeah I'm not painting them for that exact reason. I found some JDM style lugs on ebay in black and blue.. I'd put $100 on that blue not matching my calipers though.

i hope you got the right style lugs because you cant use aftermarket acorn style lugs on the stock wheels.

I just painted my FM tC stockies. Its the grimmspeed BBS gold color. It looks great, I think it is a much better gold than those cheap ones you get the store for a couple bucks per can.

I think if the blue will not match your calipers, black is the way to go. Which lugs are you planning to get? I want to get cheap ones too but unsure of the fitments on those aftermarket like DJ08tc said. I was thinking a dark purple color for mine.

Personally I'd just stay with the stock lugs. I think it would look just fine. If you find some that are designed to fit the OEM wheels/studs that are a different color then go for it.

Also, to the OP of this thread.... If you search first here on SL, there are several well established "Painting OEM stock wheels" threads that have a lot of info that can be helpful to you in the decision & DIY steps for this particular project.

^^ any chance you have pics of yours after ya had them done?
Just curious, because I've been looking to do the stockies off my tC gold for a while... and just haven't landed on the exact shade yet that'll be the perfect match to look good with my SCM tC.

^^ I will get a quality picture for you asap. I won't clean them though since I think it looks sexier with a little brake dust..

Yeah I've read all the DIY's and wheel threads. That's the main reason I am going with a matte finish because I don't like the high gloss on black. I didn't know the cheap acorn style didn't fit though.. glad I didn't waste $30. I guess maybe I'll mask off the scion logo on my center caps and keep them and my lugs chrome/silver.
