Question bout a possible wheel/tire combo
Thinkin about the Tork F-15's 18x8's with BF Goodwrinch T/A KDW 2's 225/40. What do you all think?

What do you mean by "look stretched"? Like they aren't supposed to fit on the wheel? I have a friend who has 225/40 on her 18x8's and they looked good to me. Course, I don't really know what stretched looks like.
Well stretched would just be tires not wide enough for the wheel. But I think 225s would be OK. They would just be a tiny bit stretched compared to stock - and that's what I'm thinking when I compare the two in my head. I don't think you'd have any issues though.

KDW 2's are great tires, yes, a little loud on the highway, but sticky as hell, great in wet weather, and decent treadwear. It is a summer only tire however.
225 on an 8 inch wide rim is fine.

I should add that they are 27lbs each. What will that do to my fuel economy, accleration, etc. If the stock 17's I have weigh 22lbs, is five pounds more going to make that big a difference?

mike if u want you can ride with me and listen before u buy them
KDWs are sticky enough, but aren't the best for wear and are fairly loud, and as was said before, are summer only. My recommendation: Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions - All Season, UHP, excellent rain performance and 40K treadlife warranty.
I'll be honest, I've never driven on them in snow; only wet pavement. I've only test-driven on them when Bridgestone first released them. They're what I'm planning on replacing my Potenza S-03s with when they're toast next summer.
Back to the weight issue I brought up:
The Tork F-15's are 27lbs each. What will that do to things like fuel economy, accleration, etc.
Second, would it be better to go with a wheel like the Sportmax 941 which is 18x7.5 and 23.5lbs. It is a similar style (multi-single spoked), just less spokes.

Any input is much appreciated and thanks to you all who have provided input so far.

you're going to lose performance no matter what you do. you have more rotating inertia and it will take more power to move them and more power to stop them. the only way you'll gain performance is if you run like a very light forged 17" wheel. and since your set on 18's just go with whatever. just make sure you know you'll lose some performance with them.
of course the tc isn't a performance car so its not a HUGE deal

yes I felt a difference with the heavier rims but this is no "sports" car
if you want 18 it usually means u want show not go
