i didnt install them on my new wheels and my dash light turns on when im 100's of miles away from home. if i stay local it stays off and it resets when i get back home if it turned on. ud be saving some money not mounting them on your new wheels, no need to remove the old tires to get to em.

I would get them put on..honestly mine semi saved my @$$ on my trip up north this past week..I thought it was the sensor going out but turn sout a couple of my tires were at about 24psi.

They aren't as worthless as I thought lol

and you should be fine as far as putting them on a new set of wheels.
