Default Question on lugs/hub rings... confused

I just ordered a set of 5Zigen FN01R-Cs for my '07 TC, in size 17x8" 48 offset, 5x100 bolt pattern. I musta had my head in the clouds when ordering 'cause I totally forgot about lug nuts and ?hub rings?

Can anyone point me to where I may be able to buy new lug nuts that will fit my car and work with these rims? Also what the size/specs should be for them?

As for hub rings, I wasn't aware I was going to need them. What are they used for exactly and where can I buy some for the TC?

Thanks in advance

Hub rings serve no purpose after installation, their entire job is to hold your wheel perfectly centered while the lug nuts are being installed.

The hub rings sole responsibility is to take up the space between the center bore of the wheel and the hub of the car. It is used to take up the space between the wheel and hub.

All wheels are classified as being either "Hub Centric", or "Lug Centric." The term Centric refers to the way a wheel is centered. In other words a hub centric wheel centers on the hub of the car, if you put the wheel on the car without lug nuts the wheel would be perfectly centered. On a lug centric wheel, the wheels are centered by the lugs as they are tightened down. Manufacturers build wheels lug centric to allow the wheel to fit a wider selection of vehicles.

As for lugs, you can purchase them at a discount tire or whatever tire shop you take your car to.

you will need to get hub centric ring for your car, hit up the same place you bought your rims for those.

the wheels are lug centric, but if you take your rims off as much as me, then you dont wanna adjust your rims to make the lugs fit dead on.

hub centric rings are worth the 20 bux they cost, and they will save you in the long run. its a very easy way to get vibrations in your car without them.

Did you get them at a shop or off a classifieds listing? Usually shops will ask if you need the 'extras' in order to mount your new wheels. Shouldn't cost you more than another $40-$50.

You need hub rings that have an outer diameter of 73.1 to an inner diameter of 54.1. As for the lugnuts, make sure they are 12x1.5 conical seated. We have the whole set priced at $75 shipped. It's weird the people who sold them to you didn't advise you about them. We send them free of charge when you buy a set.

I bought them from JLB Motorsports, I didn't even think of asking them at the time.

Thank you guys for the speedy answers! I will shoot JLB a PM and ask if my rims are coming with any of that, if no then I have some shopping around to do.

Another question, with those wheels in 17x8" 35 offset, and a Tein H-tech drop, what is the best tire size to use for no rubbing? 235/40?

You should be able to run that size but it might be a little short. I would say run the 225.45.17 it should tuck with the drop and still fill the gap nice. There are a lot of choices in that size too. Here's a link: Tires

I would agree with 225/45R17. If you go stock size (215/45R17), they will stretch too much. I noticed you are in South Florida. We are located in Miami. If you want to swing by and see what we got, just hit me up.

Hmm so i would probably be better off going with the 48 offset and getting wider tires such as 235 or 245/40s. I dont mind if the wheels are a little sunk in, better sunk in then rubbing is how I see it.

Besides, nothing a 5mm spacer wont fix. Thanks guys, Leo i will PM you.

48 offset will be better for the 235/40R17 tire. I think someone on the boards is running a 5Zigen FN01R-C in that combo with no issues.

Agreed 48 offset would be better for the 235's. They will still be a little short though., i'd still run the 225.54.17

If you want something wide, go with the 48mm offset and run a Falken in the 245.40.17 it also has the correct overall diameter. They should tuck nice with that offset and have a really nice footprint. 452's and St115's are offered in that size.

Yep I think 235/40s would be good, unfortunately everyone I've spoken to no longer has them in stock in 48 offset, as 5Zigen is supposedly redoing them for spring.

What a PIA

WAIT for them...

235/40 would be your best bet on the +35 offset, but 245's are soooo much better

YOU NEED CONICAL LUG NUTS TO USE THOSE RIMS.. anyone who tells you other is wrong... u cant use stocks on those because they wont even fit through the stud hole...and yea u can get autozone one but u better make sure they are conical.. and usually those conical ones they sell are blah..

also im going to have to disagree about hubcentric rings serving no purpose other then to hold your wheel on srt8...yea they help in alignment but ppl use these more for creature comforts on cars with aftermarket rims because the rims themselves are not of the best machined standards and vibrate because of either unflat mounting surfices, wrong lugs nuts, poor quality wheel with poor weight distribution and also poor balancing all of which cause vibrations in which the rings help eliminate...but if your using conical lugnuts and tighten them down in a criss/cross manner they will align them selves on their own..

tires i would recomend 235 on an 8inch tire.. u can go 245 if you like the chunky beefy look on a tire... nothing less because your going to strecth the tire a little to much and also if you hit a hole in miami kiss the lip good bye.. the extra sidewall from a 235 or 245 will help you out in situations like that... but 235 would be your best bet.

btw... edge racing is local in miami and they are nice ppl ive bought tires from them before.. and discount tire is also great at their service...both places get my thumbs up...

i'd get hub rings. seating the wheel propertly minimizes vibrations and road noise. try to get polycarbon but rings. metal hub rings will rust onto the rotor.
