Default Reccomendation... re:Rota, Advan, ??

So I want some good looking wheels to set my car apart.

I LOVE the Advan RS. I cant afford. So, I looked to the Rota equivalent...then promptly saw that everybody apparently hates Rota and they will most certainly break. Well, that sucks.

Well then... what to do? Are there any wheels that look like the Advan RS but hold up better than the Rota?

TRD drop, daily driver, fairly crappy roads around here. Cheapass local gov't.

Check other forums, usually i-club is more organized that nasioc because they have classifieds by regions. Anyways I don't think all rotas will break, they're cheap good wheels, just as long as you don't track them. I think the pictures of the broken rotas are the really old ones with thin spokes, ever since then I think they've been reinforced. A lot of subie dudes do rock rotas though. I've had a pair of rota d2's and they've been good to me.

Thank you Seng. I do value an unbiased opinion. "Just the facts" you know what I mean?

I've just been informed that a members wheels on here are actually Rotas when I was thinking they were Advans. Currently, I'm seeking his opinion but will weigh the facts and decide down the road.

Thanks for the advice, all.

The Rota G Force wheels are kinda overpriced if you ask me. So are the Grids.

The Rota G-Force is a great wheel that is very durable. I've been browsing this forum for a long time and just recently registered as I couldn't believe the amount of lies/misinformation posted about Rota Wheels. The Rota G-Force, like all Rota Wheels, is a JWL/VIA certified wheel and can withhold a lot of abuse. We have tons and tons of customers running the Rota G-Force in 18x9 5x100 +35 fitment (same setup ran on the Scion tC) and we've never had a customer have a single problem.

The majority of our customers are running stretched 225/40/18 and 235/40/18 tires without a single issue. You can view our customer gallery here for more pictures

http://www.wheeldude.com/wdg/view_ne...Rota%20G-Force

We also have many customers tracking their cars with this setup, here's a customer out of AZ who puts these wheels through a ton of abuse

If you have any further questions feel free to post!

I have Red Super Advans and LOVE them to death. I may be getting a different vehicle soon so they may be up for sale.

Either way ADVAN > Rota

i dont mind rotas, but the fact that you could take the money you would spend on those + tires and just get used volks or works or something better, is a little better. It is what I did.

One thing to note is the wheel fitment offered for your car. The widest Advan RS in 18" 5x100 fitments is 18x8.5 +48 (slight concave). The concave GTR style face is not offered in 5x100 fitments for this wheel model.

Rota does offer a wide variety of 5x100 fitments. The Rota G-Force comes in 18x9 +35 5x100 fitment and is offered in a variety of colors.

Here's a customer car running this exact setup

You do realize if you contact ADVAN directly that they will build you a custom offset and width on any of there wheels for you? Though it does increase the wait time by a little bit.
Advan offered me my Super Advans in a wider width and lower offset but increased the wait time by more than 1 month to do so. I decided that the roads I drive everyday suck too much for a crazy offset so I went with a more standard size.

Plus, Thats Riboflavin's car...and he has since stepped up the game:

Get the real thing! 18x8.5" +45mm with 255/35R18 Toyo R1R's! Remember, when you buy knockoff, you take away from those that put the work and dedication into making the wheel you desire!
