For people running stretches greater than mine - 225/40 on 9.5" (which is everyone), how damaged do your wheels get when daily driving? I want to go 215/40 for clearance but I don't want to beat up my wheels. Even now I have some dings and scratches on the lip from contact with road debris or whatever.

 

If you had a higher width and lower offset, the camber would help against that. Of course, the inside of the wheel would get the hits.

 

I'm running 215/40/18 on a 18x9.5 +38 wit like -3 camber in the rear, and the only thing is I got ding and sctarcthes on my lip like u stated Which are kind of avoidable from happening since our tires aren't really protecting the rim

With road construction being done around town here and there and bad roads, it's more like slow, stop, turn around and find another way.

haha i drive pretty damn slow, but still! bay area roads just are not slammed friendly! and not to mention, San Jose, CA has the nations WORST roads.

The car is flithy, hasnt seen wax in months, needs fenderwork (riding 4x4 status right now), and theres a bunch of little stuff I have to do before I really want anyone to see it, its kinda ____ing me off actually all the damn little things i have to do...

 

my 912's are just a tad more stretched then yours, and after an entire year of DD 70%hwy, its not as bad as i would have thought, there are a handful of tiny chips here and there, but i really think its due to the SBC finish, its a very hard finish, therefore chips off from impact, rather then absorbing the damage, although i dont think its really due to stretched tires, since alot of the chips arent even on the lip edges themselves.
