Default rim size range inquiry

Looking to get a new set of rims for my tC. Probably 18's. Not everything I see is available in 7.5 width (width of stock 17" rim). Can I do 8, or 8.5 width without any fender rub? Obviously smaller width is possible, but with loss of handling. Or should I just get what I can with 7.5" width to minimize risk of fender ruband keep it as close to stock as possible? I think the 18's that come optional with the tC are 7.5" width also. My suspension is still stock, but future plans for TRD shocks/coils exist in my brain so if I could lower my car safely without rub that'd be awesome.

I'm assuming that 18, 19 inch rim etc would have more risk of rubbing inner fender well just because it's bigger, even if it's the stock width (7.5") and if you were to get lets say 16's you could get wider rims/tires? If all that's wrong and changing your rim won't change it's distance from the inner fender well (for smaller rims at least) lemme know.

I guess I'm looking for a tC guru or something...

Thanks for everyones help in advance...These forums always help me out in my quest for aftermarket stuph for my favorite car ever.

You'll be able to run 18x8 and 18x8.5 with a 35 offset if you have TRD suspension.

So even less chance with stock suspension on those sizes. Awesome. And I can still get the TRD coilovers eventually too. Thanks a ton you two!
