Moral of the story. Rota wheels are cheap, but cheap for a reason. To compare them to HRE isn't fair as they are selling to different markets. You want high quality wheels, spend the money. You want wheels that have a good chance at BREAKING (not braking), buy Rotas. You can't expect a company that sells wheels at the cost Rota does to have very high QC procedures.
FINALLY SOMEONE GOT THE JOKE.

Nebster is right..cheap cast wheels are much much less resilient than the forged stuff. But its where you drive...I'm in NY and i was GLAD that i got the cheaper ASA wheels... I hit a really deep pothole on the the Belt Pkwy, granted a forged wheel prolly wouldnt have cracked...it would have bent that sexy lip. and replacing a BBS RS-GT is $800+ versus $160 for my cheapy ASA wheel....5 wheels for the price of one...easier on my wallet when i have to replace one....

lol.......this thread is still goin on?

again...
BBS, Volks, Work, SSR, all very high end wheel companies, have had bad batches with big failures like the above pictures.(page 1)

Those pictures, are YEARS old, from a well known bad production run. Rota has identified the batch/s that were bad, and replaces them for FREE, even if they arent broken. (FYI it wasnt just attacks and subzero's there were other wheels as well)

You see 10 times more failed rotas because there are 10 times more Rotas on the road than there are of the other high end brands. The reality is that the failure rate isnt any higher than the failure rate on the $3000/set wheels.

If you want to spend $3k on a set of wheels, go for it, there are some INCREDIBLY badass wheels out there. But dont justify your cost by what essentially is spreading misinformation about the failures.

I have a folder somewhere on my computer of several SSR Comp wheels with the center torn out just like that Rota pic. I bet that guy thought rotas sucked too Or the BBS's that used to split down the middle

or you could put that way simpler.

they make them entirely diff.
thats why rotas break and expensive rims dont.

the production processes arent similar.

I say this: if you want to drop the coin on the high end wheels, do it. If you don't, don't.

Don't let other people make your decisions for you.

why am i on stock rims now? cause of this ____

Thats ONE rim. on ONE pothole. Wanna know how many i bent on that one pothole? TWO. yeah, its a konig, but its basically the same thing as having a rota.

take it from someone who had the experience, and the GIANT headache it caused

all wheels will either break, crack or bend. but when they do...the person with the bent, cracked, or broken wheels will never admit to driver error. it will always come down to the "quality" of the wheel.

or it will come down to running the wrong tire.
and yes, the volk in the last pic is bent...but barely.
now if that were a rota, it prob wouldve shattered into a million pieces.

any rim bends/cracks/breaks no matter what. its not like u can go over huge potholes with high end or cheap wheels and expect for nothing to happen to it. You jus drive carefully and avoid potholes cracks etc. thats all
