let my girlfriend drive my car for a little while and i guess she scraped up against the curb while parking and the rim is pretty ____ing scratched. so my question is where can i get a new rim (they are the stock rims) and how much is it?

 

Best might be eBay or the classifieds here on SL. Price varies... you should be able to get one under $100.

is there any alternative to replacing them after a curb scratch... any tricks out there for reducing the visibility of those scratches ? magic rim scratch remolder?

 

I believe it is. But even though it's not "brand new" it's likely to be in perfect condition.

 

you CAN fix it if you want...sand down and use spot putty, then paint/clear it. same process as if you're painting your wheels except you need the spot putty.

When I need new tires, I'll be getting new rims.

 

When you have four curbed rims, then it's an excuse to get rims. I've been waiting on my tires to wear out so I can get some rims, like you.

I'd say see if a professional can fix it up, or if it will cost about the same, just get a new rim off one of the places suggested here.

Of course, realize you'll end up paying to have the tire and rim mounted and all that.
