FYI, typing in all caps is considered yelling. Its also not permitted in the site rules you agreed to when you created an account here.

Concerning brakes pads, they are very easy to install and can be purchased online for $30 -$90 depending on the compound you choose.

We carry Axxis Ulitmate pads which are a nice high bite performance street pad with low noise and rotor wear. The Hawk HPS is also available which has less bite than the Axxis Ultimates with less dust. Either way you go you will experience better bite and and less fade than the OEM pads.

Wow.... It's got to be REALLY easy.... except for the fun of compressing the caliper to get the new pads on.

Someone front me some pads and I'll do it....

It really is very very easy. After removing the wheels all you need a 14mm wrench and a C-clamp.

Unbolt the caliper body and use the C-clamp to push the piston back into its bore. Install the new pads and bolt the caliper back on. Then reistall the wheels...thats it.

I can do a front pad swap on a tC with stock brakes in about 20 minutes.

Not like my Passat, where you have to twist the piston WHILE pushing it in.... Annoying to say the least.

i think that the breaks are something that should be looked at heavier then they are. Correct me if Im wrong but im sure there are other pads which will increase the performance of the car and only cost $200 ....instead of 2K(ish) for bigger breaks.

I only have 11,500 miles on my ride and I think I will need new brakes by 15,000 miles. I drive pretty hard, so is that a good life for oe?

You can get front and rear pads for right around $100 actually and notice a significant improvement over the OEM pads. As I have posted before in other threads a BBK is not necessary on the street and is more of a show item. On the track is where a BBK can really shine with it much better heat capacity and larger pad selection.

Our stage 2 kit is more than adequate for most drivers and it is under $600. It replaces all 4 rotors with slotted or drilled parts, Axxis Ultimate brake pads front and rear, stainless steel brake lines front and rear and 3 bottles of Motul RBF600 brake fluid. The kit uses the stock calipers and everything is the same size as stock so there are no balance issues and no wheel fitment problems.

Its not unheard of to go through brakes in that amount of time but it is on the short side of pad life. There is no answer to how long parts should last since it is so dependednt on how and where you drive.

We are not site sponsors so I cant really comment too much on pricing, but you can expect it to stay in that area.

Brake life depends on a lot of things. Driving style, weight of the car and whats in it, size of the brakes, materials, Scions goal for them (long life or good performance).

I had a Mazda Protege and the original front pads lasted 85k and the rotors were not worn out but pretty much rusted away. The rear drums were still original when I sold the car at 115k. They lasted forever but they werent very good for performance even when new. One my Saturn the front pads and rotors only lasted about 30k but they worked really good. The rears were pretty worn at about 85k when I sold it.

16k here and they're still MANAGEABLE but I probably should have gotten them around 13-14k

Anyone know how the tC brakes compare to the 04 prius? I had the 04 Prius before I traded it in on the tC, went over 26k the first year and never had the SLIGHTEST issues (and I drove my Prius LIKE a tC, not like a prius)

Can't really follow if the prices you guys are mentioning is PER PAD or for the whole job.

To get DECENT brakes for a car that isn't really modified on the performance end (just interior stuff) what's a ballpark figure? I want to spend under or right about $200 but not even sure if that's possible...

okay, scratch the second half of my above post. I didn't see the last couple posts on here...

So $100ish for Axxis Ultimates. How much is a typical installation? I wouldn't have a clue IN THE SLIGHTEST what I'm doing and don't really have any tools around here except an 18v drill and a tape measurer... (I know, I know...)

And also, can you go to places and say "Hi here's some brakes, please install them" or is this a thing where people don't really want to install it unless it's the one THAT THEY CARRY (Example would be Toyota installing your aftermarket equipment and how that DOESN'T happen)
