honestly... I dont mind the stock color.... I do like some other custom colors... but biggest prob I have with the stock silver... is the damn finish on them is so frickin' soft that if you even look at them wrong ...BAM! there's a nick in the finish.

my buddy has a silver civic with silver rims and i love the way it looks.
if you want them color matched, id suggest doing all the prep work yourself than take them to a body shop to have them painted.
you could always use those little color matched spray cans too.

I guess paint thinner would work. Any kind of wax and grease remover should work. Well you can do either or. You could wet sand using your wax and grease remover as the lubricant (heh). Kinda doing two things at once then.
personally, i stay away from the paint thinner.
reason being...if you do use it you have the clean the wheels ridiculously good before you paint them.
if you have even the smallest spot of paint thinner that didnt get cleaned off its gonna fk up the new paint and your going to have to re-do the whole thing.

This is what I did...
1. I cleaned the rims really good with greased lightning blast
2. Wet sanded the rim w/600 grit sand paper
3. Then washed it again with greased lightning blast
4. Dried it off with a lint-free cloth
5. Taped up eveything I did not want painted with blue painters tape(xpensive stuff)
6. Then I used dupli.color prep-wipe and wiped off the rim.
7. Sprayed a few light coats waited a few min. in between then went a little heavier with the coats....nice even strokes to prevent drips and sags.
8. Waited a about 10 min after I finished spraying the paint the added several coats of clear.
And whaaaalaaaa.....check them out.....
