Tire pressure light
So I'm driving around, working on breaking in my new tires, when my tire pressure light comes on. I pull into a parking lot and get out, check all 4 tires twice, 33-34.5 psi on all of them. I drive home and go to bed, before I go to work I check again, pressure is still the same, but the light's still on. I'm thinking that I got some faulty TPMS sensors from tirerack, anybody have any other possible explanations?
Make sure you check that all tires are within spec then reset the TPS. I had the same thing happen to me when I got my oil changed one time. Turns out they were over inflating my tires. The system runs off of a sensor that picks up a wheel that isn't rotating the same as the others. Thus tripping the light. Inflate to what the inside of the door says, and if that doesn't work use that tires recommendation.

oh geeez... you paid $350 for sensors?? oh man.... the ECU doesn't know about them.. doesn't see them.. and don't know what they are...
the ECU is programmed to your stock sensors.... you know.. the ones that are still in your stock wheels.

check to see if the air stems are metal. if they are then they are sensors. set the front to 32 psi and rear to 29 psi. the spares aren't full size so i don't believe they have tpms. once the tires are all set correctly turn the key to the on position and reset the tire pressure light (inside the glove box). press and hold button until light blinks 3 times then let go. it should go off after that. if it still doesn't go out after all of that then u most likely have a bad tpms. u will have to have a dealership shop check that out if thats the case.

still no mention of the fact that he took the stock sensors out of his stock wheels though dude..
doesn't matter if he has new sensors or not in his new wheels.. the car won't recognize them.

Here is a PDF file for the tire pressure sensor activation (assuming the ones that they installed are compatible with the toyota ECU)

i doubt a run-of-the-mill guy off the street will have access to a Toyota scantool..
along with the fact this is to activate the stock sensors that.. i can only assume..
ARE STILL IN HIS STOCK WHEELS.
if he has the serial numbers for the new sensors though... only can a Toyota technician reprogram the ECU... but really... there's no easy way to go around it.

i'm pretty sure he bought them brand new from the place he bought his wheels..
thinking the new sensors would replace the old ones easily...
uhm.. gross misconcept if so
